I have a quick question. Does anyone have an effective way to get rid of body acne? I tried all the body washes and loofa sponges. None of that works. I drink over a gallon of water a day, and usually shower two or three time a day. I still have a problem with it. It is very frustrating.

I never had acne as a teenager and I dont know if I would have ever had it because I used acne medications as a preventitive measure.
I saw all my HS friends were breaking out with the stuff so when I saw the very first sign of the first pimple. I decided to nip it in the bud but it even had chance to surface. In those days I used acne medicne regularly even though I didnt have any acne and I think thats what saved my skin from that terrible social stigma and unattractive skin that people with acne have to suffer through.

Diet is very important for the skin so watch what you eat—I stick with natural things. Would rather eat an apple or some grapes than fried chicken or other greasy foods. Some water rather than soda and highly sugar liquids. You get the basic idea! :)

You may want to try this place as a start but beware of any people spamming products.
They have a nice message forum on there that seems to have good information.

RTG,

What do you eat? It could possibly be part of it. When I was in puberty, chocolate gave me problems, and potato chips still do if I eat to much.

The best scrub I ever came across is actually Borax with soap - cheap and mostly used by automechanics, it will pretty much remove the upper layer of skin if you overdo it. Those sharp crystals are unsurpassed to clean out deep skin grime (in my rather meagre experience with skin care products).

Try switching to Ivory soap.

I try to eat healthy. Like I said, I drink over a gallon of water a day. I rarely ever drink anything else. I eat fruits and vegetables as snacks (an occasional cookie or twinkie from time to time). I think chips and dark chocolate are my downfall. I don’t eat them a lot, but enough. I eat chips everyday and have dark chocolate twice a week. I rarely eat fried or real fatty foods. My wife cooks heatlhy for the most part.

Thanks for the site SSI. I have considered getting my doctor to prescribe me something, but didn’t know if my case was severe enough.

mgus, I’ll give the Borax a try. It takes a lot to dry out my skin.

I have extremely oily skin and hair. If I don’t shower twice a day my skin and hair get a slight “sheen” to them. I am convinced I could wash 10 times a day and not get dry skin. My body is a natural oil factory.

Thanks for the tips guys. Any other opinions would be appreciated as well. Backup plans are always good to have.

Ivory soap is not a moisterizing soap, it’s just pure soap. No additives, no nothing. Pure. Give it a shot.

Give it a rest for a week or two, especially the chips. There’s all this talk these days about trans fats (“partially hydrogenated vegetable oil”) and how bad they are (apperently our bodies can’t break them down properly and builds up in our bodies over time. Disgusting, isn’t it?). Some chips are fried in trans fats for the extra longevity and crispness… Also prevalent in milk shakes and god knows where else. Might be worth it watching out for them.

I just remembered, Boraxo was the brand name. Cylindrical paper tins with a wild west coachwagon on the side.

I’m starting to get this mental picture of you, kind of like Mark Hamill with slightly oily hair…

I remember I shaved my “grundle” (that has to be the nastiest word) one time, but it itched and was uncomfortable for like a week after. What did I do wrong?

Try using medicated powder like Gold Bond or the equivalent.

Many years ago I was a marketer of Melaleuca Products.

So I do have one suggestion with people with problem skin.

Try any lotion that has a good concentration of Melalueca oil.

This stuff is amazing! I actually witnessed a man that had gangrene in his legs.

The doctors could not clear it up and were talking amputation.

He started applying pure Melaluca oil (also known as Tea tree oil) and all his sores started to clear up over a few months.

If I didnt see it with my own eyes I would not have believed it.

He saved his leg and the doctors were amazed. This stuff is well known in Australia as a very strong antiseptic.

It is also a natural cleanser and disinfectant. I still use on any wounds or abrasions I get but I dont have problem skin.

I think no other herbal remedy works faster or more effectively over a wider range of skin problems.

Ok enough… before I start sounding like a pitch man for the stuff. :)

Cool, I’ll give it a try. Is it something you apply in the shower? Or do you just apply it and leave it on?

Its best when you apply it right after taking a shower. Thats what they guy with gangrene did!

Its very penetrating to begin with but a nice hot shower opens the pores and makes it even more effective.

He applied a few times per day.
