Hello everyone. A few months ago while listening to a biology podcast, I came across a study which suggests local heating may help local weight loss.

This made me think of applying a local heat pad in the pubic area to help reduce the difference between bpel and nbpel.

I will share the link for the study so you can check it yourselves, and if think it may work, try for yourself.

Hmm. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was some way to spot-reduce fat, but this study doesn’t give one, unless I’m misreading it. All it says is that you can turn white fat into beige fat, which will increase overall thermogenesis. Beige fat is the same size as regular fat, so I doubt the transformation will help shrink the fat pad.

Spot reduction of fat would require first convincing the body that it should preferentially burn fat cells in a specific area, and then applying a caloric deficit.

Well, turning white fat to beige makes it easier for it to get burned for energy. This was studied a lot after the boom of intermitent fasting and was also studied a lot with the wim hof breathing. The increases in beige and brown fat were mostly found in the back neck area in both of the previous studies. This new study shows promise of transforming more fat storage areas to brown fat.

J/K. I wish there was a way to easily, quickly get rid of fat pad fat. That is probably my hardest place. I can be very low fat with a 6 pack and still have about an inch of fat pad.

I don’t agree with the author’s insistence on water ice instead of cold packs; I’ve used the cold packs directly against skin for years for my knees. Otherwise, he did a deep dive on the whole cryolipolysis thing.

My fat pad is detectably thinner, but I don’t know if it’s due to the cryo or the weight loss. Either way, it’s easy and costs nothing.

You can definitely spot reduce fat. The best way is fasted morning cardio intervaled with the body part exercise you want to reduce fat at. It works because you pool blood into the specific area while doing cardio so its going to pull more fat cells from that area. Overtime it will also increase vascularture of the area making it even more efficient at burning fat. Its just like PE you have to be committed for it to work.

At the moment there is no specific way to spot reduce fat that will work for everyone.
