I’m back at it after almost a year off. I think this counts as a solid deconditioning period.
Anyway, I’ve been spending a lot of time researching in various places and improved my tool set for my PE endeavors. I’ve added An Apex extender, which I feel is superior for this methodology because I can slowly tighten the springs over time to reach a target weight and increase in far smaller increments.
I’ve also purchased a SoundCare Plus and attempted US heating several times. Unfortunately, it just doesn’t seem to be working for me and I cannot seem to heat my shaft, even at 3MHz. I suspect that OTL hanging would probably work better as the US waves are probably just going through the tissue and need a backing/phantom of some sort. I think if I were longer OTL could be more effective but at this time, the LG vacuum cup raises the head so much that the contact area is fairly small and the friction of my skin on the vacuum cup also interferes too much with accurate weighing.
Having said all that, I have completed 3 sessions of hanging with FIRe - really I’m extending now using the Apex, so I’ll just call it EFIRe.
I’m using a TotalMan heating pad which feels pretty good, but I cannot verify that I am reaching therapeutic temperatures. I will proceed with the pad since I cannot get US to work. If anybody has some ideas for getting US to work with an extender setup, I am all ears.
I have also changed my method of measuring to improve accuracy. My new BPFSL is 7.75 and I am getting a post-BPFSL of 7.875, or 1.61% strain.
Shooting for extending every day without rest days. We’ll see how that happens in practice. I’ll be running this through May/June and then will take a 1-2 month decon.
