I apologize in advance for the lengthy post. I really need encouragement and some feedback.

Hey guys, great to be here. Just a quick rundown about myself before I get into the questions. Yes, I know I know I’m supposed to read, WHICH, I have to a very large extent. However I just wanted to ask some general questions and get some feedback from some of the experts.

I stumbled upon this place last year in 2016. Needless to say, the amount of research, information, and community behind all of this blew my mind. I’m 5.75 BPEL and about a solid 4.5 EG so, pretty average for a lot of guys (hopefully). I wouldn’t say that my size really bothers me but I would say I don’t have nearly as much confidence because of it. I’m 22 by the way. I would honestly just like to gain 1 inch in length and about 1/4-1/2 in girth because hey, that’d be pretty dang close to 7 “.

Fast forward to last week when I tried my first newbie routine. I did it down to a T while kinda skipping the kegels but still doing some nonetheless. It was interesting. Kinda felt like a lot of pressure on the dick and it was hard to maintain an erection at times but I was happy I had gotten through my first round even though I turtled a bit. I took the weekend off and started back up on this past Wednesday. I did the newbie routine once again. Everything felt alright. I didn’t turtle as bad but I still didn’t experience the “pump” afterwards. Had a little bit of morning wood next morning and then went at it the next night for my 2nd day on. Here’s where I’m right now.

I’m circumcised and have extremely tight foreskin compared to the Jelqing video. Because of this I believe, jelqing at times feels a little harder and feels a little painful depending on the amount of pressure being used. After the session I turtled majorly and now I’m pretty sore down below. It’s not extreme pain by any means but definitely a soreness that I’m not used to and enough to freak me out that maybe I’ve caused an injury already after doing literally the bare minimum. Also, during stretching I gained a little bit of an erection but figured this was normal me being a beginner and all with handling my dick.

My questions are as follows:

How do you know what the amount of pressure should be when you’re jelqing? The tutorial video looks like the guy has a legit full erection and is squeezing as hard as he can. I definitely don’t have the engorging like in the video but I do notice my glans are filling with blood with motions.

I am still perplexed on how to judge the percentage of the erection. When I read on here about 80%, 50%, 40%, etc., I have no idea really how to judge that so maybe I’m thinking I was too erect while trying to jelq. I know I wasn’t at a full. Is there like a chart or video I can see that kinda shows where the penis is in terms of erection percent? Also, is turtling normal for beginners? Are there any of you gainers out there who turtle on the regular?

I’ve lurked on here for a while and this is really my first experience with posting on the internet. The community here seems great and the success stories are crazy and intimidating at the same time.

I definitely don’t see myself becoming obsessed, I honestly just want a more healthier unit in hopes of gaining an inch. I’m blown away with the guys that gain quickly and see results in a week or two AND was hoping to be one of those fellas. Now, it’s not looking so great with already being pretty sore after only THREE newbie routines. I’m also fairly certain that getting it up would be a challenge at the moment. I’m hoping this goes away in a few days so I can start back up maybe at half the pace of the jelqing. Please please please give me some feedback. I’ll update this on the regular.

NO MATTER WHAT, I WILL NOT GIVE UP. I know this stuff takes time and consistency and I’m here to do my best.

I understand it’s hard to put a number on the EQ level. I struggle with that myself. Knowing 100% has to be a completely engorged, full hard-on I guess 80% is engorged but not totally stiff. My hard penis will still flop down if I don’t hold it with my hand at this level. It’s engorged, but doesn’t have enough blood in it yet to hold it straight out. I’m guessing that’s about 80% or at least what I feel 80% must be and what I use for jelqing. Like I said, I’m not an expert on the percentage numbers, but this is what seems to work best for me when jelqing.

There should be some discomfort or soreness, but no pain. If you notice pain, stop. Always be in tune with your PIs. Jelq at a level you feel comfortable. There is no need to overwork it. Do you do wet or dry jelqs? At this point, I can do either but found wet jelqs to be far easier when I started. There didn’t seem to be as much pressure.

Turtling is common. Many of us struggle with this. The more you work your penis, the less it will happen. You eventually will get a nice hang, once your penis becomes accustomed to the routine.

Just stay dedicated to this. You’ll find that even with the slightest improvement, your self confidence will skyrocket. PE is one of the greatest things I’ve ever discovered to give me that boost.

If you haven’t yet, start a progress log. It will help by telling others what you are doing. It also keeps you focused on your routine. The guys here are great and if they see something you are doing wrong, they will jump in and offer advice.

James nailed it, but I’ll add my two cents anyway. EQ is always an approximation as it’s simply not feasible for you to measure with any precision, but as a general rule of thumb if it’s too stiff to bend you’re too hard to jelq safely unless you’re a veteran PEer who’s doing erect jelqs for your girth routine, but even then I’d proceed with extreme caution. Personally I dry jelq starting fully flaccid and let my EQ build from blood retention, stopping when I can feel it stiffening and not being malleable anymore. As for grip strength, my goal is to retain enough blood to maintain even pressure on both my CC’s while creating expansion. You don’t need to choke your dick to death, and honestly I think that could lead to injury as you’re more likely to burst a capillary or something.

Soreness/discomfort should be similar to how it feels after you’ve been to the gym. A little bit of soreness and fatigue is good. Pain, however, is not and should be avoided as much as possible.

Your goals are quite attainable, by the way. My starting measurements were very similar to yours (EG was just under 5” but I was the same length as you) and I started PE when I was 21 (will be turning 25 in a few weeks). Even with inconsistent newbie-level routines where I’d never go more than a few weeks to 2-3 months at a time, I’ve gained well over 1/2” in length and at least 1/4” in girth.

It is always recommended to start with a beginners routine and continue with it for 90 days or until you stop gaining. Start slowly and build up to the full routine over a few weeks.

Jelq with an erection level between 40 and 70%. Do not grip too tight, just enough to feel blood moving up the shaft. When stretching, grab your shaft about one inch below the glans and do not pull too hard, just enough to to feel a slight stretch. Let your PIs be your guide as to how hard to pursue your routine.

Nothing wrong with being obsessed with PE

Dont forget to take good starting measurements and photos so you have a solid base to compare your gains to.

I’ll take everything that was said into immediate consideration. I honestly think that I might be squeezing too hard or trying to maintain too hard of an erection. Girth is my main goal but I understand that it takes a while to start into that.

I’m currently wet jelquing with lotion and just a tad of warm water due to me just sticking to the newbie routine at the moment. If I begin to have good PI’s for a while then I will look into dry jelqing.

The soreness has thrown me off just a bit I guess since I’m new to this and my dick is probably saying, “what the heck are you doing?” I’ll be sure and keep an eye out for more discomfort.

Today it seems I have actually noticed a slightly thicker hang but I have not gained an erection since the last routine. Is a little ED normal for total beginners?

One thing I am determined to do is not give up or become discouraged until I reach the goals. I truly believe that I’ll hit the sweet spot.
