Fungal infection from canola oil

Fungal infection from canola oil

So a couple months ago I finally started doing regular PE. My little bottle of mineral oil was running out however so I decided to use some of the Canola oil we had around. I poured some into a little travel-sized bottle with a snap lid and put it in a bathroom drawer. I knew that it could eventually “go bad” , but I was hoping it would last for about a month. Apparently not though: about a week and a half into PEing I noticed that my skin was slightly flaky on one side of my penis (shaft) and there were some small red patches, not raised or anything but almost like a rash.

I stopped doing PE and waited awhile to see if it went away but it didn’t. It hasn’t really gotten worse either though. There’s no itching or soreness or discharge or anything like that, I’m not sexually active so I don’t think it could be an STD. The skin is dry and flaky and slightly cracked, like after you get a small sunburn, and there’s some redness around the area. I think it’s some type of bacterial infection (from spoiled vegetable oil?) and was wondering if any of you have had anything similar.

Strange. Fungal problems I’ve had itched and burned. Maybe something in the oil is irritating your skin. What was in the container before the oil?

Never heard of anything like that before, but if you think it is some sort of fungus or bacteria, buy some Lamisil antifungal cream and see if that doesn’t clear it up.

Nothing, it was unused. And I haven’t used any oil or anything since then.

I’d try an antifungal ointment like gprent suggested. If that doesn’t clear it up within a few weeks, see a dermatologist.

There isn’t anything in canola oil that should cause this.

The only thing I can think of is that it spoiled and started to have stuff grow in it. Anyway, I’ll try the Lamisil and hopefully that will work.

Strange, try rubbing garlic into it, garlic oil or a piece of garlic. Are you sure it is not an allergic reaction to laundry soap. Or a latex condom?

Speak softly carry a big dick, I'm mean stick!

I’m pretty sure it’s neither of those. One thing I should mention is that it’s not red all the time. Usually the area where the skin’s cracked gets red after I masturbate and returns to normal color a day later. Normally, it’s just like I have chapped lips.but on my penis.

I would focus on other causes than fungus , and those can be many , for sure .

Tea Tree oil will kill a fungal infection very effectively , and it is also a great antiseptic , try some , topically .

Oh , and also try leaving your penis alone for a while , call it a de-con break if you need to , but take a week off from both PE and masturbation , give it time to heal .

Sorry to hear about that. If the fungal infection is bad, you might get an MD to prescribe a topical cream with 2% Ketoconazole.

When you recover, why don’t you try a water-based lube? Astroglide works pretty well, and it’s not too expensive.

Good luck,
Jet
