New way to measure

I found a new way to measure my length and girth.

I get a shoestring and basically use it like a tape measure but I get I put it next to a Ruler.
Same with girth.
Would this be an accurate way to get measurements?
Try it and let me know or if you have done it already,let me know how it worked out.

Shoestrings are stretchy, and the plastic ends will add some variance. I wouldn’t use it for the most accurate measuring system.

There is nothing “new” about using a string to measure.

Even if the string doesn’t stretch, you still have to worry about keeping it strait. It would probably work for estimating NBPEL (non bone pressed erect length) to the nearest 1/4 inch or so, but you couldn’t measure BPEL (bone pressed erect length) which is the most important measurement. Use a strait ruler and dig it into your pubic bone. Use a ruler that starts at 0 (and not a ruler with 1/8 or 1/4 inch of ‘blank’ space at the end). To get an extra hard BPEL, I suggest pressing the ruler over a bit of your underwear or a small piece of cloth to reduce the pinching sensation.

I forget who, maybe AndroNYC - but somebody uses a paint stirrer to measure BPEL. He measures himself with it and marks the stick with a pen, and then measures the stick with a ruler. His idea is this keeps him from “cheating”: If he measured directly with the ruler, he would “cheat” to reach a certain length.

Would not work for me as I curve left and up, so I have to straighten myself out. Not enough hands to straighten, hold a stick, and mark with a pen.

That’s a really good idea. I think from now on I’ll use that method for the same reasoning as his.

For measuring girth, I use some masking tape that’s been layered over itself (sticky side to sticky side). Pliable like a string without the stretch and is sturdy enough to be reliable.

If you have a solid ruler, why use a string to measure length? Personally, I would never use non-solid ruler to measure length.

I shouldn’t mention this as ignorance is bliss.. But when I tried a girth measurement with a cord of shoestring-like dimensions, I came out with a girth gain of about 3/8”. Thrilling as it momentarily was, I used a piece of notebook paper and a pen and got my same old measurement.. DAMN.

The thicker the string the more this comes into play.

How could you “cheat” on BPEL anyway? I normally press the ruler almost through the skin so that it is literally pressing against the bone. (Though I guess there is a way to bend the ruler slightly to add about 1/8 inch.)

Tilting your pelvic bone, leaning forward, measuring while sitting, measuring from side… All of those will give you bigger measurement.

I always stand up.
