Ok, so if the hangers stretch for hours at a time, what possible good will I see from stretching for maybe a sum of say 20 minutes?

Can stretching give you gains? Definitely, even big ones. Is hanging more effective? Maybe.

Maybe you are familiar with the notion that gains tend to slow down and are harder to come by as you progress? I think some guys start out stretching, using the newbie routine for instance, getting some initial gains and then as the gains get harder to get they start to hang. Others, like me, for various reasons stick with the manual training. If you for any reason don’t want/can’t get a hanger, especially if your a newbie, I believe stretching will do fine.

Bottom line, stretching has it’s function in PE and should not be counted out.

Mavis, one can definetily gain by streching for 20 minutes a day, but you have to be consistent about it. It doesn’t neccessarily mean strech every day, it all depends on your routine.

Also, I think it is better to strech for 20 minutes in one workout then say 5 minutes in the morning, 5 in the afternoon and 10 in the evening.

And if you have finished the newbie routine, you can try incorporating some advanced streches.

Many guys hang with maybe 6 to 10lb for extended periods. You probably apply quite a bit more force than that, but for a shorter time using manual stretching. I think many guys just get into hanging because their hands or arms get tired doing manual stretching.

In the first 4 months of PEing, I did newbie routine of stretching and jelqing. I would do stretches twice a day, 3 days per week. Each stretching session taking about 15-20 minutes. I also stretched for about 30 seconds straight out every time I took a leak. And I gained more then .9” in BPEL (Closer to 1”) during that newbie routine. There is no way of knowing if things would be better or worse had I not stretched so much. (Or often!) All I know is I had great gains.


2007-01-27 5.3" BPEL 4.8" EG, Less than 3" Flaccid, and sometimes less than 2"

As of 12-07-2008 7.75" BPEL 7.1" NBPEL 5.7"MSEG 6"+ BSEG. Ultimate goal 8+ inches NBPEL, 8.5" BPEL 6.3" EG (2" diameter just sounds so cool!)

Flaccid 5+ inches on a good day. 4 1/2+ pretty much anytime. My gains have slowed to a snails pace, but I will not quit!!!!!!!

Maybe I have not understood your problem.

Anyway my stretching sessions last 40-45 minutes 3-5 times a week.
