Solved the vac hanger blister issue
Ok, so it wasn’t me who solved it, but I can’t remember where I read a throwaway line on another forum about using a silicone toe cap, so while it wasn’t purely my idea, it sparked one in me to try. So thanks to whoever made a passing reference to this technique.
So I always use a vac hanger setup for elongation. Mostly I do my length training with a high-tension, around the waist belt setup since it enables me to move around totally stealth and the tension is such that I have to rest the direction every 30-45 minutes. I’ve been getting great elongation rates and have been making steady progress, recently hitting PR’s for length post training. I still do a bit of hanging and extending, but not nearly as much as my high tension "ADS" since it is so user friendly and I’m not stuck at my desk and needing privacy.
The issue I have been trouble shooting is blisters, just like everyone else who uses a vac hanger setup and moderate to high tension. Everything going along fine and then one day something is not quite perfect, and there’s a blister at the end of the session. It sucks.
I typically use the water trick, mostly for convenience compared to taping, but even perfect technique results in the occasional blister. One thing I have tried with some success is to cut two small pieces of hydrocolloid patch to put on the trouble spots, but even then there is still a lot of focal tenderness in the problem areas, and there is almost always some skin peeling. Better than blisters, but still problematic, and the peeling and tenderness are a short step from a blister.
Taping is the same-good for a bit but eventually the tape pulls away from the skin in the trouble area and there is peeling, tenderness and risk of blister. Plus you have to get somewhat erect and clamp in order to tape in a way that is expanded into the cup, so not exactly a quick change situation if you have to reset after the toilet.
So I read somewhere someone saying something about a silicone toe cap. A ding went off in my head. I ordered a pack from Walmart. These are not the cylindrical ones but the cap-shaped ones. I ordered some with little airflow holes in the sides, thinking these might help in evacuating all the air once I put it on, better than a solid cap.
And gents, it works like a charm. Flaccid glans goes into the cap (which is tight, so it’s a bit like putting on a condom that is a little small), then a short segment of sleeve on the shaft at the retroglandular sulcus to park the vac cup, a little water in the cup, set the cup in place, roll down the cup sleeve and then evacuate all the water and air until the glans is expanded completely into the cup. The silicone expands beautifully with the glans but totally protects the skin.
I’ve been using it for over a week, and it makes all the little pitfalls of long-duration vac cup use totally non-issues; it’s essentially fool-proof. I’ve had zero tenderness, no skin peeling and definitely no blisters. No need to keep an eye on every little air bubble that appears 20 minutes in. Plus, unlike the hydrocolloid patch, it doesn’t start to fail after a reset and is reusable over and over, so no need to restock the supply. One pack of 10 caps will last years, or at least it seems so from a week of use with no perceptible degradation. And the caps are really inexpensive.
One little thing that happens is you get some little convex bumps for a short while where the air holes are since there is more focal expansion in those spots, but it fades quickly. I make sure that the holes are on the sides so my glans doesn’t look like a Klingon’s forehead for the 10 minutes before it fades (cuz, hey, you never know, the lady might call my name at just that moment…) but that is just a matter of preference.
Here’s what I got, in case you want to try it.
