The Logic of Moving Up or Down in Weight

The Logic of Moving Up or Down in Weight

Is the mainstream logic that one should start at low weights (7.5 lbs) and then move higher (up to fifteen)?

It seems to make more sense that one reach fatigue with the higher weights and then move down. I’m just making sure that I have it right. Thanks a lot.

You’re on the right track, smkan2.

Hanging is not a weightlifting contest: in fact, the best way to get continuing gains is to attempt to gain using the least amount of weight possible. In my case, hanging combined with traction wrapping (“healing in the extended state”) have brought me excellent length gains.

I don’t’ think you should focus on the amount of weight you’re hanging. You know, like trying to get up to fifteen pounds. Like GM said, it isn’t a weight lifting contest and who knows at what weight you will experience fatigue. Just slowly increase the weight about a pound or so per week until you reach fatigue and are forced to lower the weight in order to complete a set.

For instance, at this moment I’m hanging 7.5lb on my second set for the day. I started this set at 11lb, hit fatigue around ten minutes into my set and had to reduce the weight twice in order to complete the twenty minutes. I just add and remove weight in order to ‘ride’ the fatigue, attempting to log as much hang time as possible in the fatigued state.

Fatigue may not happen for you until you’re in the 20lb range. Who knows?

Then (4.5 nbpel x 4.75 mseg)

Now (5.625 nbpel, x 5.25 mseg)

I’ve only been hanging for about two weeks now and I’ve not notice anything that I should be feeling or I should say that I don’t know the feeling of fatigue. What does fatigue feel like? I’ve read that when you reach this point that you would be able to recognize it, I’m not sure just how or what I should expect, what feeling am I looking for? Anyone, please PM me if you want to about the subject of Fatiuge.
