Unable to change weights

I’ve been hanging for about 3 weeks or so. Still only hanging with 2.5 pounds BTC. Still getting that lig burn, etc. I have tried 5 pounds on several occassions. The burn was just too much. My lot is 9:00 (if this helps).

I am just curious as to whether such a slow move up in weight is normal? Or are my ligs just that tight that 2.5 is STILL pulling enough?

I would ahve thought you should be moving up after 3 weeks. Do manual stretches burn as much? are you sure it is lig burn and not skin stretch?


The "average size" is usually over-estimated. Small guys don't take part in surveys and big guys jump at the chance.

2.5 to 5 sounds like a big jump, have you tried 3.5?

The weight you’re using now sounds like it’s doing some good, you might be able to manage a slightly higher weight for a few sets, before it feels too heavy. If that happens, just drop back to 2.5 for the rest of the sets.

Sounds like you might be feeling skin stretch. Try this while hanging, take a really deep breath and expand your stomach as much as you can. Or, you can grab the skin at about your belly button and pull upward slightly. If the burn increases when you do either of these you are stretching skin not penis.

It took me a little while to figure this out when I first started hanging. After getting the hanger attached in the correct position as to not be putting all the stress on my skin, I could easily hang with 10 pounds for 20 minutes.

While stretching manually I feel no pain at all … and I mean I pull the ole willy. You may be right, it could be skin stretching. I’ll experiment after this current rest period.

I recently received my Bib Hanger and went straght to hanigng a gallon can of paint. I am not fully sure of the weight but it seems damn heavy. The reason I mention this is because I feared to start out too lightly thinking that doing so may not allow me to acclimate as quickly. I have gained about 1/2 inch BPEL in a little under a month. Most of this though was just hiding because my wife hadn’t been puttin’ out.

BTC will always give a more intense feel than an exactly matched weight in another position. What can’t be handled at 5lb BTC may work SO or some other angle.

A quick Google search says a gallon of latex paint will weigh somewhere in the 10-11 pounds per gallon range. That’s a hefty amount to start with. Welcome to Thunder’s Place JD!

The can of paint seems to be in the 8 pound range. And although I jumped straight to such a high weight, it is not as if I strapped on the Bib, attached the paint can, and let it hang for twenty minutes. While seated on the edge of the chair, I adjusted the length of the Bib strap such that the paint can barely touched the floor. I then leaned back a little and could really feel the pull. After about 10 minutes of this, gradually increasing the resistance by scooting back in the seat and by leaning backward, I was hangin’. Now I can pretty much strap it on and let it swing.

Ok … rest period is over and during that time I went back and read and read and read. Applied what I learned today and hung 5 pounds with no problems whatsoever. I pulled the skin back more so than in the past, played around with various wrappings and methods/applications, and with the installation of the Bib Hanger. Result was much, much better.

I am hanging about 10 minutes with 5 pounds, taking a break, then again. Going past 10 is just too much although I was going 20 minutes with 2.5. Will move along slowly, patiently, cautiously, yet optimistically!

I have been using the Bib Hanger since December. I started with 2.5 lbs and now am up to 7.5. It is OK to take it slow and listen to your body.

Thanks to the help everyone has offered, not to mention all the archived information, I guess I can officially claim to be a hanger.

For me, it’s all in the wrap. Dang, it took me weeks to get this down, but for sometime now I have had the wrapping down pat. I have a LOT of around 9:00, sometimes a tad bit less. So I hang SO and SD, evenly divided.

Yesterday I had a lot of private time and can honestly say that I exhausted the ligs, pecker, and me. I saw a tremendous difference in flacid length and girth. Some of the girth may be due to Uli sets - one in the morning, one in the evening. Today I was a little sore and hung through it. After about 10 minutes all was well.

I am now hanging 12.5 SO and 10 SD. Once I got the wrapping issue down the weight just jumped. It’s amazing how much difference higher weights make in the workout.

No, I am not at this time. At this weight BTC is too much for me. I was BTC with the lower weights and there was no problem. Once I get used to SD I’ll work my way back to a BTC position.

Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.

Is there a magic percentile (%) of what weight you can hang at SD or SO that can be used without killing yourself at BTC? If your doing 12 lbs as an example straight out, I would look for 2/3s or 1/2 that amount with BTC. BTC gives the most for the money so to say. It is great that you are working other angles and getting used to them, but I thought most guys chase out BTC till there LOT goes down some.
