Visual IRC

Visual IRC is an extensive IRC client offering a very graphical approach.

It supports plugins, allowing amongst other things graphical smilies and sound events.

If running the program for the first time an initial box will pop up asking how you would like to view the options. Select I've used IRC before. Show me everything! and click OK. The main configuration windows should pop up. If it does not select Configuration form the File menu.

Remove any existing nicknames in Default Nicknames by clicking on them and then clicking on the remove button. Then click add and type the forum username and click OK. Type the same into the Ident box. In the Real Name box something must be typed but what is a matter of personal preference. This will be displayed to other users.

In the Default server box type irc.thundersplace.com:6667%forumpassword or irc.thundersplace.com:4667%forumpassword if behind a firewall that blocks standard IRC. This is the server (irc.thundersplace.com), followed by a colon and then the port (6667 or 4667), followed by a percent sign (%) followed by the normal forum password.

Once the configuration is complete, hit OK. Then click Start in the icon bar at the top and click the far left connect icon in the window that pops up. Once connected, type /join #main or /join #newbie to start chatting.
