Giving yourself a blister from pumping or hanging is never pleasant! The cause with pumping is too much vacuum pressure or too long of a pump session (or both). With hanging it’s using more weight than you’re conditioned for, too long of a hang session you’re not conditioned for, too much vacuum pressure …. or a combination of any of them.
From my perspective blisters are completely avoidable provided you use a little common sense and discipline. You’ve all heard the old saying regarding the definition of insanity - “doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result”.
First let me explain how to take care of a blister….
If the blister is small, say the size of a BB, leave it alone. Usually your body with absorb the fluid within a day and the skin will re-attach. If however the blister is larger, say the size of a pea or the head of a pencil eraser, then do the following. Sterilize a needle, pop it and drain the fluid out by gentle compression. Then disinfect it with surgical scrub (Betadine). It’s what surgeons use to swab an area to be operated on. Then put a dab of anti-biotic ointment on it (Neosporin or Polysporin). Cover is with a small band-aid so that it won’t rub against your underwear and get irritated. Do not attempt to remove the skin! Over the course of the next 3-5 days the dead skin will start to dry, at this point take a small pair of cosmetic scissors or fingernail clippers and start trimming away the dead skin, do this gradually as the dead skin starts to dry up. Once you’re all healed up and that fresh new virgin skin is ready to start pumping or weight hanging again start back slowly. Reduce time and weight by 50% for hanging. Pumping reduce time and vacuum pressure by 50%. Give yourself a minimum of two weeks to gradually work up to where you left off before you got the blister!
There’s a red flag warning signal that if you tune into will help you prevent blisters. It’s a subtle tingly / itchy sensation on the tip / glans of your penis. Recognize it and STOP your hang or pump session and you will likely avoid a blister or at worse just have a small BB that goes away in a day.
