Acetyl-Carnitine curve.
Hey,
Just thought I’d share a fairly interesting discovery with people; not sure if this is well known already, worth checking however.
Before I proceed, could somebody please move this post to the supplements section at their leisure, thank you.
Peyronie’s Disease:
Peyronie’s disease is characterized by a curvature of the penis that leads to pain during an erection because of blocked blood flow. One promising study compared acetyl-L-carnitine to tamoxifen in 48 men with this condition. Acetyl-L-carnitine worked better than the medication at reducing pain during intercourse and minimizing the curve of the penis. Acetyl-L-carnitine also had fewer side effects than tamoxifen. Although the study results are encouraging, more research is needed.
Typical adult dosages for the diseases described here range from 500 mg to 1,000 mg three times daily. For children, one study used 50 mg/kg twice daily, up to a maximum of 4 g daily.73
I’m guessing this may help to correct even slightly less serious curvatures of the penis; only a guess however and sadly: no mechanism of action has been established.
Regards.
