That sounds about right. Twice in my life I’ve had ulcers in my through caused my stomach acid that I thought was from hot spicy foods, but both of those times I was on high doses of L-Arginine and under lots of stress.

Best thing to do it go on a bland no tomato semi vegetarian diet and drink plenty of water. I mean it NO TOMATOES, there’s something in all tomato products fresh and cooked that make acid reflux worse. If it’s really really bad, you’re going to need to cut out red meats and hard to digest foods…. So like nightshade family all together which is potatoes, tomatoes, and eggplant, and watch out for nuts and grains with gluten. It sounds like hell, but you can still eat and drink dairy products and fish and chicken with no problems, at least that’s what I remember…….but red meats, grease, NO SODAS and NO ALCOHOL, and cut out wheat for a while. Try this diet out for about a month with some optional digestive enzymes at every meal and you should start feeling better soon. I seem to remember it only taking a month in a half to two months both times.

Unfortunately for my acid problem, diet isn’t working. I am going to have to have surgery to correct the valve between my stomach and esophagus, as well as a hiatal hernia. I’m not responding to diet or high doses of medication. I had a test done and the valve only closes at 20%. The medication helps, but I can’t stay on those doses long term. Good news is the doctors believe that post op, I’ll be able to return to a med free and normal diet. Less the arginine. My gastroenterologist let me know that arginine relaxes the muscle that controls the closing of the valve. So I’ll be staying away from it.

So it that going to be the valve thing I saw on tv? The one they just poke down your stomach on the endoscope and latch to the top of your stomach. I wonder what the success rate for that is and if it’s for life or temporary.

No, I will have to be opened up. They have to fix the hiatal hernia as 1/3 of my stomach is above my diaphragm. They will be doubleing up on the smooth muscle to tighten it up. Too bad I can’t just jelq and kegal it!
