Can you take too many different vitamins?

I have omega 3’s, ginger root, vitamin b-1’s, and garlic pills. My question is would it be safe to take all of these everyday? Maybe even throw in a multivitamin? How many is too much?

3-22-17: BP: 8.44 NBP 7.56 x 5.75

Your body ends up pissing most of that stuff out, but if you took a high amount of stuff for a prolonged period of time you would probably end up with health issues.

Start/April 2011: BPEL - 6.75" / NBPEL - 6.00" / BEG - 5.125 / Mid Shaft - 4.75 / Glans 4.5"

Current/August 8 2011: BPEL 7.25" / NBPEL - 6.375" / BEG - 5.625" / Mid Shaft - 5.00" / Glans - 4.875"

Goals: NBPEL - 8.25" / Mid Shaft EG - 6.00"

So should I choose just a multivitamin and garlic pills to take everyday would that be safe to take for a long period of time? Or a good multivitamin and omega 3s.

I’m not a doctor so I can’t say for sure. That being said, everything in moderation. I don’t think a multi-vitamin, garlic, and omega-3 would be bad. Although, I think it’s good to take a week or so off after a few months, too.

Again, not a doctor, just going on my own observations and exeriences.

A good rule to go by is drink a cup of water with every pill you take. That will keep you hydrated and and in the clear from anything being left behind in your kidneys like sediments out calcium build up.

Thanks guys I will incorporate both of your strategies. I will make sure to take some time off of the pills every few months. I mostly will take them with meals like theyre recommended.

Good advise.

You will absorb much more by using liquid vitamins or gellcaps as well. You are probably already doing that with the omega 3’s and garlic. The ginger is probably powder in a capsule anyway; much better than a hard pill. You could switch to ginger tea.

The garlic pills are small hard pills but the omegas are softgels. Is there a liquid multivitamin that is good for you?

A number of vitamins can increase the risk of cancer, renal and liver disease and mortality if taken in excess. Garlic can cause stomach ulceration and its medicinal benefits are spurious and sourceable through exercise and other means.

Here are some great/safe supplements:

Green tea and green tea extract (never take more than an equivalent of 10 cups)

Coq10

Fish oil is notoriously polluted with high levels of mercury and dioxins and a specifically filtered fish oil high in EPA/DHA is recommended.

A diet of vegetables, fruits, grains and nuts will supply the vitamins and minerals required in a preferable format to the inorganic “oxide” compounds found in most cheap vitamins. If you have cash to burn, look for a high quality “green” multivitamin.

Sophomoric isn’t omega 3 fish oils safe since its high in epa/dha? I have the kind in the red bottle.

Iamaru thanks I will check them out. I never really believed in hard multivitamins that’s why I rarely took them. I always knew that liquids are better than hard pills that have a chance of not completely digesting.

I have been taking coromega fish oil squeeze gels but I will start taking multivitamins soon.

How has the fish oils been doing for you? Notice any changes?

I have noticed that taking a daily fish oil capsule helps with inflammation. Just a thought.

Sed26,
You’re basically taking in pill form what you can get in food already, with the exception of omega 3 fish oil which is fine. Why not just add fresh Ginger and garlic to marinates and eat something like oatmeal for the B vitamins. You can take a sublingual B complex if you want to replace caffeine later in the day.

True, you do urinate out what vitamins your body doesn’t need but most people who sweat and work need a multiple to keep up with vitamin deficiencies. You will know you have one when something is wrong like mouth sores or constipation. Most people take the pills which don’t really break down well and cost about $10 for over a months supply. Personally I like the liquid version better but that’s just me.
