pycnogenol is a circulation booster that is reported to have some good effects on ED when teamed with L-Arginine

So if it contains both of those this could well be the reason.

Abstract

Penile erection requires the relaxation of the cavernous smooth muscle, which is triggered by nitric oxide (NO). We investigated the possibility of overcoming erectile dysfunction (ED) by increasing the amounts of endogenous NO. For this purpose, we orally administered Pycnogenol, because it is known to increase production of NO by nitric oxide syntase together with L-arginine as substrate for this enzyme. The study included 40 men, aged 25-45 years, without confirmed organic erectile dysfunction. Throughout the 3-month trial period, patients received 3 ampoules Sargenor a day, a drinkable solution of the dipeptide arginyl aspartate (equivalent to 1.7 g L-arginine per day). During the second month, patients were additionally supplemented with 40 mg Pycnogenol two times per day; during the third month, the daily dosage was increased to three 40-mg Pycnogenol tablets. We obtained a sexual function questionnaire and a sexual activity diary from each patient. After 1 month of treatment with L-arginine, a statistically nonsignificant number of 2 patients (5%) experienced a normal erection. Treatment with a combination of L-arginine and Pycnogenol for the following month increased the number of men with restored sexual ability to 80%. Finally, after the third month of treatment, 92.5% of the men experienced a normal erection. We conclude that oral administration of L-arginine in combination with Pycnogenol causes a significant improvement in sexual function in men with ED without any side effects.

Behemoth, perhaps you misread my post. I do not believe EPX Cardio contains pycnogenol . I use pycnogenol for the reasons you state. EPX Cardio contains Red wine extract which is another antioxidant which is why I raised the issue of pycnogenol. I gather pycnogenol is a particularly effective antioxidant but there are many others incl red wine extract and some vitamins.

Not quite misread it Austfred, perhaps the Red wine extract has some similar properties, I am pretty sure that they can get pycnogenol from grape seed as well as maritime pine bark, so this could have the same or similar effect :)

I understand what you are saying in that exercise alone doesn’t fix anything. For me it didn’t fix or help anything at all. Right when my problem happened the first thing I heard was “you need to get in the gym and that will fix you up”. For three and a half years I went to the gym and got nothing from it. I only got weaker and weaker to the point I couldn’t even run anymore. I’m 6ft. tall and only weigh 145lbs. My arms and legs are like spaghetti. I don’t have any issues with weight, cholesterol, or any other health issues. I just don’t have a body type that responds well to exercise so now I won’t go near a gym.

Sorry about that lol I do take it with water

Magnesium Citrate (many of us incl me take ZMA which includes magnesium)
Xyliltol which is a tooth friendly sugar alcohol presumably as a sweetener
Red wine extract - an antioxidant (seems to well recognized that antioxidants enhance the effect of L-arginine. I use pycnogenol)
Astragin which is a mix of Astragalus and Korean ginseng. It is claimed to significantly increase the absorption of L-arginine
Zychrome which is claimed to enhance insulin function.

I suspect the Astragin could be the component which is making the difference’

I currently take ginseng and will try some Astragalus membranaceus which is readily available. It is traditionally used to tune the immune system amongst other things and I am hoping it might assist my allergic rhinitis which is the bane of my existence as well as enhance the effect of arginine/ citruline.

Since I have started taking supplements as part of my PE I have noticed my rhinitis has been much less severe most of the time though I am yet to face a Southern Hemisphere Spring pollen season since starting PE.

Not sure why the Zychrome is included

I will look into those ingredients more and see if I can single it out.

At first glance I was one that took one look at the ingredients and said “This stuff looks like it will work just because of the citrulline and arginine mixture, and everything else is irrelevant.” But upon taking it it was obvious that some other ingredient is playing a big role in this stuff. Who knows maybe it’s more than one ingredient that’s making the difference. I wonder if argi9 plus and the other similar products work the same.

Yes I gather grape seed is an antioxidant like pycnogenol. I also take quercetin which I understand comes from oak bark along with bromelans (from pineapples) to help my allergic rhinitis. I suspect it might also have properties like pycnogenol. They are both bioflavonoids. Pycnogenol seems to be relatively expensive which might explain why they use grape extract instead.
