Facial Wrinkles

There are a bunch of threads talking about baldness, and people’s regimens to counteract it but none on some of the other signs of aging.

So what do people here know about wrinkles and how to avoid them.

I scowl almost constantly and am getting some nice plough marks between my brows. When I’m not scowling I’m laughing and have the laughter lines to prove it. I also smoke (bad) and probably have a fair amount of sun damage. I just use a vitamin E cream on my face and bog standard soap. I’ve heard that vitamin C cream can be useful but I don’t know whether this it hokum.

So guys, please share what have you done to combat the spider lines of age. What works and what doesn’t?

Well… I’m turning 19 next month and I already have wrinkles like my dad. The exact same wrinkles come upon every male in my family because of the wear and tear our facial skin gets from our natural “facial posture”. If that makes any sense…

Memento - There’s many great cremes that you can get which tighten your skin, and using those religiously should really help you out. Look into it for sure… might have to aks some ladies, or flip on the cosmetic channel (which sadly exists, offered by DirecTV)

2005 - BPEL 6.0"x MSEG 4.5" (BEG 4.75"/HEG 4.625")

2010 - BPEL 8.0"x MSEG 5.75" (BEG 6.5"/HEG 5.875")

Goal - BPEL 9.0"x MSEG 6.5" (BEG 6.5"/HEG 6.75")

Anything with Retinol in it. Helps to peel old skin off the face. If you can get a prescription, it’s Retin-A, but the higher strength can’t be worn in direct sunlight for very long.

Maestro Happy wrote an excellent post on this subject a while back: Mr. Happy - Metrosexual Guide to Life

I bought both the Vitamin C daytime stuff and the night cream he recommends. Both work well. I seem to be fending off deeper furrows as well as should be expected for someone of my advanced, decrepit age.

I tend to remember to use the Vitamin C cream more because it’s part of my after-shower regimen. It’s the first product I’ve used consistently that doesn’t cause a breakout reaction, although it does sting my eye lids a little when I first put it on.

Those brands may not be available over there, but you might find something similar.

Otherwise, among other nutrients: fish oil. (Ingested, not topical.)

Get really fat. That should smooth them out. :)

You could try these exercises called Scalp exercises, they are originally for baldness prevention, but people have claimed they can help with wrinkles. Go to hairloss-reversible.com, the my approach page and it teaches you how to do them. The hardest part for most people is gaining control of the opticalis? muscles (back of your head). It could hurt to try, but you will have to stick with it for the LONG TERM to see if it works for, like maybe 6 months.

1. Stay out of the sun

2. No smoking, drinking or drugs

3. Drink lots of water

4. Eat a healthy, nutritious diet

5. Sleep 8 hrs per night

6. Take a multi-vitamin/mineral for insurance

Observe... learn from other people's mistakes.

I could probably manage point 6 and maybe at a push point 3.

Cmon the sun is one of the reasons I still wanna live.

Pistol shooting and the gun powder residue that sprays your face will tighten your skin. Want to borrow one? :) (Just kidding momento!)

The constant look of surprise on my face has caused deep wrinkle lines across my forehead as if I am 50 years older. I don’t mind them because this facial expression makes people believe I am interested in what they have to say when I am asleep on the inside (Great for uni lectures that is, until I eventually fell asleep still with raised eyebrows)

Same here to some degree.

Here are some ideas that will help, and they come from a friend a lot older than you are.

Get in the habit of washing your face, AM and PM, with a wash cloth and some mild skin soap. Rinse well, dry, then _immediately_ apply any good moisturizer, like Lubriderm, which contains paba. Important to use the moisturizer while your skin is hydrated. Don’t gunk it up; just a thin application.

There is a product over here now called Nivea for Men. It’s basically a facial scrub; little teensy, bitsy pieces of sand or something in it. :) Use that a couple times a week, with a wash cloth, rubbing the laugh lines and the scowl lines, and the rest of your entire face and neck. This very mild abraision will gradually reduce the crow’s feet. Amazing stuff. Following the facial scrub, apply the moisturizer each time and you’ve lost a few years of skin abuse.

Then we will need a thread entitled, “Mem becomes metro-sexual.”
