Firsthand Experiences with Citalopram (Celexa, Cipramil)

Please only post here if you have tried the drug yourself, and can share your firsthand experience. :)

Tell me anything you can about your firsthand experience with this drug, but here are some specific questions that you can weigh in on:

1. Why did you take it?
2. How long did you take it, and at what dose?
3. Did you take it in combination with anything else?
4. How long until it “kicked in”
5. How much help was it?
6. Did it cause weight gain?
7. Any other side effects?

Of course feel free to add anything you like. I have read plenty about it elsewhere, but I know a lot of TP members have used anti-depressants, too.

I think you would be far better off with supplements. I’ve pretty much figured out what works best as far as natural stuff.
There’s a few that basically saved my life.

Of course, this depends on your level of depression. I mean I was doom and gloom and wishing I was dead, but not actually contemplating suicide.

I take what I call regulatory dosages now. I’ll never take a big-pharma SSRI as my dick not working is more depressing than the depression itself.

1. Anxiety
2. On and off for 7 years - ranging from 10mg - 30mg per day
3. No other anti-depressants
4. About 6 weeks. Full effects in about 8 weeks.
5. Great help.
6. Yes, major weight gains. No exercise or dieting could help.
7. Decreased libido, delayed orgasm, weak orgasm, weak erections, genital numbness.

I heard that pristiq is much better. Maybe you should ask your doctors about that.

Citalopram will definitely affect your erection quality. I also found it raised my blood pressure. The blood pressure medication further caused the trooper to droop. So I started Yoga breathing and lowered my blood pressure, and came to the conclusion that I am a spec in the cosmos, so why worry. I am now not on any prescription drugs.

Terrible ‘drug’ - made me emotionally ‘numb’ and made my dick numb to. Complete loss of libido, loss of ability to orgasm. Was a bastard to get of the drug to.

I now use Kira St John’s Wort which is 100x better.
