Friend is selling on craigslist!

Buddy of mine ordered a ton of generic viagra and cialis, and is now selling it on craigslist!

What are the consequences of doing this? He did brag about making $900 in sales last month, but if he gets caught?

If it is pills and he is selling the medication to people with the intent for them to take it as a medicine it would depend. If he got busted locally and its a first offence for him probably just probation for a year. Now if the Fed’s want to get involved and charge that he is sending all over to differant states they could make a felony case for it but still good chance with a good lawyer and plea deal that wouldn’t happen. I hope he has no illegal drugs in his home because he does face a good change of a raid, especially with all the cops on Craig’s list.

Federal law, dispensing prescription medication without a prescription and a license to prescribe, a big no-no. ED drugs are not scheduled meds, like Vicodin (hydrocodone), oxy (percocets), steroids, etc. Still, they are prescription drugs, and unless they are not in pill form, for “research porposes only” (powders, liquids etc), there could be some serious trouble. I’d be very careful…. And as the above poster mentioned, sending orders over state lines can add to the fire. Mail fraud, etc. I’d seriously consider the risk to benefit ratio and make a determination from there.

As an example: Is that $1000 (cost) pound of weed you could make a $1000 profit on, really worth the prison term it would carry? All the risks….

Just reading that, ek ! I’ve had, more than one guy, ask that guestion, just how safe it was, to buy from a cheap place and sell for a profit. It’s not, a good nor safe idea!

Would anybody really buy the stuff on CL anyway? I wouldn’t. I reckon it would be the same as buying any drug from any guy you don’t know, legal or not.

One of these days the cops might bust down his door, and he should know that the cops buy more drugs and contraband than anyone else.thats how they find the source. He’s probably already sold to them. Tell him to set his narc detector on high. Pun intended. Hopefully he isn’t doing this shit face to face, and is selling online only and using a paypal account that he set up with fake documents and stuff and doesnt transfer funds to his own bank. Even that aint safe because unless he’s only accessing this account at the library or internet cafe, they already know his IP and thusly, where he lives. Even if he’s a hacker using an anonymizer they can still find the physical location..

I’ve heard of crazy sentences for things like selling relatively innocuous Rx drugs. Cultivation w/ intent to distribute rap is a lot less of a big deal than Rx drugs. Heck I know people who have had their plants taken AWAY and burned by the DEA/BATF goon squad who have never been indicted by a grand jury, charged by a DA, or even sent a nasty letter. Just confiscation. And I know others who got indicted, had all their property, cash and assets seized, and went through all the trial crap. In case you’re wondering what kind of associates I’ve got, this is just people from my town that I don’t really associate with but know who they are. We had a couple of high profile busts when the local cops got some Fed grants - so the first thing they did with it was chase down where all that pesky marijuana being sold at the medical pot dispensary was coming from. Legal to use, legal to sell, illegal to grow by Federal law.makes no sense at all.

So it really does vary widely. If you’re a prosecutors target and poster boy for an anti-grow campaign in his district, then you better get the best CDA you can find, some old guy who golfs with the judge, would be my rec. But if you’re just picked up selling joints at a concert or the beach, it might get you a misdemeanor conviction with probation or time served.

If you do get busted selling Rx drugs it can be a few different charges too, unlicensed pharmacy (a criminal violation of state professions code), then theres the federal angle - not sure what all comes into play there, and then the state can charge you with possession/distribution of a controlled substance. You need a couple different attorneys to represent you with a multi-agency prosecution like that.

BTW if you had $1000 cost sunk into weed (assuming you grew it and the cost is just seeds , grow equipment, facility utilities and packaging) it could net you about 40-50Kon the street. Assuming you’re selling at prevailing street prices of roughly $200-250/ounce.

Why do I know so much about the business side of cannabis, well it’s a possible PlanB if this economy falls apart.move to Canada and do this. I SHOULD have done this 20 years ago when I was 17 and had a few thousand bucks in the bank. I could have made 100, 200K before they caught me and before I could have been charged as an adult. Put the 200K into Dell, be worth about 15M today.
