PE, Nitric Oxide increasing supplements, ischemia, and reperfusion injury
I’ve long been into taking arginine and NO producing supplements. However I found some info in my research that I wanted to present here, and see some other peoples opinions on it.
First of all, ischemia is the restriction of blood supply to part of the body.
"Reperfusion injury refers to damage to tissue caused when blood supply returns to the tissue after a period of ischemia. The absence of oxygen and nutrients from blood creates a condition in which the restoration of circulation results in inflammation and oxidative damage through the induction of oxidative stress rather than restoration of normal function." - Reperfusion injury - Wikipedia
"Nitric oxide can contribute to reperfusion injury when an excessive amount produced during reperfusion (following a period of ischemia) reacts with superoxide to produce the damaging free radical peroxynitrite." - Nitric oxide - Wikipedia
So although it has a lot of great things about it, like giving us better blood flow (IE erections), raising HGH etc. it could be bad for PEers. If you hang or clamp, you are cutting off the blood flow to some degree causing ischemia.
"Restoration of blood flow after a period of ischemia can actually be more damaging than the ischemia. Reintroduction of oxygen causes a greater production of damaging free radicals, resulting in reperfusion injury. With reperfusion injury, necrosis can be greatly accelerated." - Ischemia - Wikipedia
Perhaps this is a good reason NOT to do light jelqs between hang sessions or clamping, by doing so you are bringing in the blood faster and increasing reperfusion injury potential.
Just a thought, I’d like anyone else’s input.
