Saving Money

Just ran across a site:

This site pretty much tells you exactly everything that is in any type of food and how much. Anyway, I have been on the atkins diet for a while now, and, considering that 3 ounces of beef has 1.631 grams of arginine, chicken has 2.619 grams per 5 ounces, and pork comes in at 1.612 grams per 3 ounces, I will be spending my supplement dollars elsewhere. I figure that I am eating about .75 lbs. of meat a day so, taking the average of the three contents, I am getting about 6.5 grams per day.

Thanks for the link chas - Peanut Butter seems to be very high in arginine and I get through a LOT of PB a day! so that’s good reading!

cheers mate

Wondering if, Peanut butter is very good for you. It is high in mono-unsaturated oil, found in high amounts in most nuts and olive oil. Mono-unsaturated oil has been proven to lower HDL (bad cholesteral) and increase the ratio of LDL (good cholesteral). Eating nuts, peanut butter or olive oil twice a day, has been shown to decrease cholesteral by a significant margine. Polyunsaturated oils are very unhealthy, due to their high oxidizability, which makes them full of free radicals, which destroy DNA and harm cells, causing degenerative diseases, premature aging and heart disease. Most cooking oils are highly polyunsaturated and should be avoided. Olive oil, aswel as peanut oil and some other nut oils, are highly mono-unsaturated oils and far, far better for you. Always read the back of the label, to see how high it is in mono-unsaturates compared to polyunsaturates, when trying to choose a new cooking oil.

Natural peanut butter.

Not like kraft shit. That’ll kill you.

Amen to natural peanut butter.

It’s amazing how a company can take a good food and make it poison. Oh, but you don’t have to refrigerate it for spreadability. One step forward, 10 steps back. Go Food Science!

Yes, natural peanut butter. Raw peanuts, crushed to a paste, with nothing else added. What is kraft anyhow?

HDL = Healthy

LDL = Lousy

Kraft is a peddler of processed shit. They’re owned by Phillip Morris.

OK Insane, they sound like scum bags who are happy making money at the expense of people’s health, through people’s ignorant, trusting nature.

Mcstrate, yes, I have only just noticed that I got HDL and LDL the wrong way round in my post. Thanks for bringing the mistake to attention.

People, HDL stands for high density lipoprotein. LDL stands for low density lipoprotein. Picture in your mind the difference. A low density, sticky substance will clog up arteries, due to it’s low density, spongy, cloggy properties, but a high density sticky substance will be able to pass through without getting caught, due to it’s smooth, compact properties.

wooah! I never knew I was eating something so good for me! I just really like it and have a least half a tub a day on brown bread sandwiches - proper nice!

Thanks for the info fellas :)

Try to avoid eating it with jam or jelly because if you are eating half a tub a day, that’s a lot of jam or jelly you will be adding and that’s a lot of extra sugar. I eat mine on whole grain bread, with nothing else added. Thinly spread so that it doesn’t cause that dry, choking feeling.

Guys, avoid eating anything with monosodium glutamate in it, also known as MSG. This stuff is damaging to our bodies and manufacturers are secretly placing this substance in our foods. For furthur information regarding MSG, check this link: http://www.trut … inlabeling.com/ and http://www.noms … om/harmful.html .

I eliminated MSG from my diet and I feel so much better!

Alex

Also avoid nutrasweet or aspartame sweetner. Nasty, brain damaging crap.

When ever I get a chinese take away, I always tell them not to add MSG. The glutamate does shit to your brain. I probably can’t remember exactly what, because some MSG got into my brain, sneekily hidden in some processed food not fit for dogs, and destroyed a few hundred thousand brain cells. lol

Good point.
Can you beleive it that here in Japan many of the processed food contain it?
Because Japan is a half-colony of U.S.A. and ruled by pirates of the southern chinese!
Yes, it’s pirates of the southern chinese, that is, terrorists who spread this chemical weapon!
And many people take it in!
