Yeah, I really doubt there is anything to worry about with this. There are enough lobbyists in our government representing the major health chains that would put the kibosh on their business. Besides, Republicans are so-called “Big Business” people, they’re smarter than this if only from a business-wise perspective. Anything that would destroy, or at least severely damage, an entire industry would not only hit them in their own pockets, but also have an impact on the US economy. This would affect far too many corners of the US socio-economic system.
Think about this for a moment, meat producers feed their livestock crap food with vitamin supplements. Vitamin costs go up, meat and dairy prices go up to match the increase. GNC and their clones (Vitamin World, Vitamin Shoppe, etc…) dwindle if not close completely. Gyms around the nation that have clientele that not only purchase supplements from the gym itself (ala protein shakes at the bar) and purchase the OTC supplements from other vendors can’t anymore and begin to lose customers (come on, sup’s give you an edge in your training and without them the less committed will feel defeated and just quit); no more Gold’s Gym (though this would not disappoint me - for reasons beyond this of course).
All I’m trying to point out is just how broad the scope of these bans would be and how unlikely it is they would be applied.
