WI, an extract contains standardized active constituents of the herb and is way better and much more concentrated than raw herb powder.
With regards to the 100:1, 50:1, etc types of extracts…
For example to make a 100:1 extract they need to use 100 parts of raw powder to make 1 part of concentrated extract. It’s like saying they use 100 pounds of raw herbal powder and from those 100 pounds they extract 1 pound of concentrated substances to make the extract. In this case 100mg of herbal extract will be equivalent to 1000mg of the raw herb. Got it?
100:1 should be more potent than 50:1 but a 50:1 extract can still be very good if it is extracted properly.
The extraction process will also remove impurities from the herb and stuff that you don’t need, stuff that you would otherwise find in raw herbal powder.
So basically when taking an extract you are getting the concentrated herb with all its active constituents and you can take much less to get results
