Zane, sorry I didn’t realise you had posted about pharmaceutical grade fish oil at thunders before. I haven’t been here for some months now. I have posted at thunder’s several times in the past about the importance of only using pharmaceutical grade fish oil.

I use to take pharm grade fish oil but it was too expensive because the company only soled it in capsules and it is the only company selling pharm grade in the UK. My plan has been to ship it at wholesale price from the US or pharm grade seal oil from alaska. I remember my moods and concentration being improved when on pharm grade oil but placebo affects can’t be ruled out. For me the physiological health benefits are more important than any psychological health benefits.

Something else that might improve your labido is ginseng. Different types of ginseng have different physiological affects. I use panax. The powder is terrible. The stuff that comes either as liquid extract or gel is much more affective. Ginseng should be cycled. It is not meant to be used continuously.

Tribulus and epimedium (horny goat weed) increase female labido aswel as male. I have heard of women entering menopause deciding to use testosterone instead of estrogen for HRT. Although it is very important to keep testosterone levels fairly low in women, compared to male levels anyway, so that virlization does not take place. A little bit of testosterone in women goes a long way. The alternative would be to take an anabolic steroid that has been designed to have less virilizing affects than androgenic steroids (testosterone).

Have you tried big doses of evening primrose oil? If so, did you find that it lowered your testosterone and labido from it’s heady heights or further increased it? It’s meant to balance hormone levels in women but what the correct balance for women is is open to debate.

Ginseng, tribulus and epidemium actually don’t work well for women. Not sure where you got your information on that. Damiana does, however, when the sexual dysfunction is caused by nervousness or performance anxiety.

I am very familiar with testosterone replacement therapy used both for post-menopausal women and pre-menopausal women who show low T blood levels. I am able to refer interested people to useful websites. I think in terms of altering hormones for sexual purposes, only T replacement or DHEA should be used, and then only under a doctor’s strict supervision with frequent blood tests monitoring levels. The risk is too great for women to undergo virilization, some of the effects like over-enlargement of the clitoris and loss of clitoral sensation being permanent.

I am not trying to decrease my libido. It’s actually very easy for me to do so; I simply go off my diet. A simple cup of coffee will kill the spontaneous orgasm ability. I do it deliberately because I like it.

The Minami brand is a Belgian brand and you should be able to easily get it shipped to the UK. It is pharmaceutical grade and actually purer than the Sears brand.

Have you noticed an improvement in body image when taking large doses of fish oil? I take over five grams of EPA+DHA per day.

No, I will give you that. They are indeed far more affective in men. Although they have been shown to slightly improve labido in some women. My point was that you might want to try them to see if you happen to be one of those women that respondes to them.

Don’t forget perimenopause. I believe that this is the hardest stage for many women to deal with. I believe testosterone replacement therapy is much more common in the US than the UK. Most women in the UK don’t have private health care and the national health service is in the habit of only prescribing estrogen for HRT, unless there is a very obvious lack of testosterone. Women who still have fairly normal levels of testosterone during menopause should be advocates for mild testosterone replacement therapy. Unless your diet gets medical recognition that is.

I was aware of this Zane. I wasn’t advocating that you do so. Thanks for the tip on Minami. I will investigate into whether there are any UK distributors or whether I need to ship it and what their retail and wholesale prices are.

I can’t say I noticed, although I was only taking 1-2 grams of omega 3’s a day because of the price and I am a 270 lb weightlifter, so need more than most. If I can procure a cheaper supply, I will increase the dosage considerably.

Zane, I just took a look at your special diet. It took a while to find. What kind of vitamin C do you take? I recommend that you take Ascorbyl Palmitate, which is both fat and water soluble. Other forms of vitamin C are only water soluble and don’t have the ability to protect lipid membranes throughout the body.

You mentioned orange juice also. I take it you mean freshly squeezed? The difference between fresh and carton orange juice in Vit C content can be huge. I actually recommend fresh lemon juice, diluted with water because it is not only a higher source of natural Vit C but is also very alkalizing on the body. Most metabolic reactions are acid forming and cannot occure if the body is already too acidic. The body’s pH needs to be kept in balance by eating more alkaline foods than acidic. If this is not done, the body is forced to use minerals such as magnesium and calcium to neutralise the high acidity. Taking calcium from the bones if necessary. Seeing as calcium and magnesium are an important focus of your diet, I recommend that you incorporate it with an alkalizing diet, so that the calcium isn’t used for unintended purposes. Lemons are one of the most alkalizing foods you can imagine. They form an alkaline ash within the gut. You seem to be avoided grains to a large extend which is good because they are mostly acid forming. So that’s a good start but perhaps you could focus more on promoting some of the most alkalizing vegetables for the diet.

You also mentioned chocolate. Boy oh boy do I love my chocolate! Dark chocolate specifically. However, I insist on only the very finest. Lindt is the best of the commercial brands but only uses forestaro beans (cheap/commercial) and doesn’t even come close to the quality of something like Valrhona, Domori, Marcolini, Michel Cluizel which use a combination of Criollo (the finest) and Trinitario beans (cross between Criollo and forestaro). They also refine and conch the chocolate much more throughly. I buy Valrhona Manjari 66% in a 3kg bag from a wholesaler. The delicate fruity notes and silky melt are exquisite.

Zane, I have just looked at the small print and the MorEPA I was taking before is made by Minami. They are the ones I was complaining about being too expensive. I will have to ship oil in from somewhere else.

It’s hard enough to get women to do the diet without telling them to drink fresh-squeezed orange juice and chocolate costing an arm and a leg. Women aren’t like men. Men will take any ridiculous thing to improve sexual function, even if it makes everything blue-looking and is hard on the heart. Women don’t much care.

Even so, the reason I push the pharmaceutical grade or ultra-refined, whatever, EPA+DHA>500 mg per gram is that over the years women who have tried my diet have noticed a big difference between brands, even at the same dosage of EPA and DHA per day. Are you saying the Sears brand is dramatically cheaper than the Minami brand? I didn’t look at the Euro conversion rate—I thought they were comparable. Quite interested to know.

Just mention that freshly squeezed is preferable but if they don’t have the time they can buy a carton of any orange juice that contains no added sugar and isn’t made from concentrate. I wasn’t suggesting that anyone had to buy only the finest chocolate. I was just telling you what I happen to like and recommend you try it, if you like chocolate (which you do because you are female). From a purely health benefit point of view, raw, unfermented cocoa nibs would be the best option, with all of it’s anti oxidants still intact but I wouldn’t recommend it for flavour that’s for sure.

Yes, I believe that this is because the oils have been treated much more carefully. The cheaper companies probably buy their oil as a left over product from other industries. Perhaps even having been exposed to high temperatures. Cheap to buy and therefore cheap to sell but inferior active ingredients.

Yes, this is because refined (distilled/pharmaceutical grade) fish oils have had the long-chain monoenes that cause gastric distress removed. The high purity also improves the flavour profile considerably and it tastes much less fishy.

The capsules by Sears are a little cheaper but the Sears bottle of fish oil is much cheaper than Minami because Minami only sell in capsules. Any supplement in capsules is always soled at a disproportionately inflated price.

There are chelation doctors all around now that perform EDTA intravenous treatments, but the insurance companies won’t cover it. Each intravenous treatment lasts 1 1/2 to 3 hours and costs about $100 a pop.

Mainstream calls it unsafe, saying high amounts can harm the kidneys. They point out such a case back in the 1950s (not mentioning how long ago it was and why, how it happened). The doctor that harmed someone’s kidney did so with an extremely massive amount as it was unregulated then.

Nowadays only doctors licenced in it are allowed to practice. Alternative medicine points out that there have been no lawsuits and no injuries despite hundreds of thousands having it done since that injury. Alternative EDTA chelation doctors point out that the same can’t be said for mainstream practice when it comes to lawsuits, and injuries resulting from malpractice.

Mainstream hollers “quack”. Alternative hollers “cover-up” to protect a multi-billion dollar profit industry performing open heart surgeries and treating cancer with expensive chemo and radiation, and unfortunately often not very effectively once it has spread, which the doctors using chemo must be all too aware of.

I’ll leave it at that.

I did a google search on the stuff. I don’t know if it’s the same EDTA, but it’s an additive in beer. :gulp:

EDTA is put in some foods to help protect flavor. Look at the ingredients in mayo and there will likely be EDTA at the bottom of the list. The low dosage in foods isn’t going to do much. There are several books on EDTA chelation. Much info can be found out about it on the internet.
