AIDS Awareness Day
Hey Guys,
This last week we, as a nation, commemorated those who currently suffer and those who have died of AIDS, since it rose it’s ugly head in the 1980’s.
According to the CDC, it looks like AIDS is going to be with us for a long, long time as the outlook does not look promising. The current projections are alarming and scary, with the largest increase in cases in the 18 to 24 year old age group, and among the black and latino segment of our society. There has been a huge increase in this country in hetrosexual cases. Please, let us not become commonplacent and comfortable, as the risks involved in one night of passion can determine life or death. I strongly encourge all young and single people everywhere to play safely, WRAP IT UP.
Not wanting to sound like a public health announcement, I personally have seen and heard horror stories involving friends and relatives, all because of ONE thoughtless or reckless sexual encounter. I am alarmed that our society has learned nothing or very little in the 1980’s & 90’s. Just last week, a friend of mine who does HIV/STD testing for the state gave out an HIV+ to a young good looking man, he is 22….and he plays the field. He has been warned, but it’s anyones guess if he will heed advice given to him
Sometimes when I read threads on this forum, and others, there is no mention of getting tested of STD’s when a relationship breaks up. And at times, there is no mention of condoms being used at all or encouraged from the older married men to the younger members on this forum. The excuses for not wearing a condom are lame and inexcusable. Please, everyone, lets encourage everyone to play safely.
