contacting an std thru saliva?

Guys I know this is stupid but I got to ask. Can a person contact an std if someone accidently spit in your eye? It was just like as they were talking and my luck wam right into the eye. I don’t think the person has got anything, but you never know. Any comments?

You can contact a number of STDs through saliva contact but the chances of this happening while talking with friends when you get a spatter are highly remote.

Relax. Unless you notice any symptoms in a few days or a week, then get checked out.

I have had Hep C for about 16 years and didn’t even know it until about 4 years ago through a blood test for life insurance. I have been married for 15 years and my wife and kids test negative for the virus. The knowledge that I have is that it is only blood to blood, and the the doctors I have seen tell me there is a very slim chance that my wife will catch it from intercourse. When I found out that I had it I told her that I would start putting on a condom. She said no and that she was not worried about it.

And I thought gonnorrhea was a sexually transmitted disease.

It’s difficult to get HIV from saliva. Can happen, though. You’ve just been to the dentist? Or you have a “cold sore” or a tear inside your cheek?

And, last I heard, (get your butt back to the drawing board, anna) kissing is often a major part of sex. However you don’t want to be Frenching someone who has oral gonnorrhea.

The chances of getting hiv through saliva are very slim, you would need bucket loads of it.

Luvaduds is correct, you can contact several blood borne pathogens thru saliva or any other body fluids. It does take quite a bit of saliva to contract them, unless of course you have an open sore within the mouth, then its a lot easier. Just know who you are sharing spit with ok.

No I’m afraid that would only be true if there were no lesions in the mouth that caused some blood cells to be present. How common is gingivitis? Even if its mild it caused blood cells to be present in the mouth. Besides many Hiv infected persons have abrasions in their mouths from brushing, trauma, or other lesions. No I think someone would be kidding themselves to insist that saliva is safe.
