(I’m sure there is a thread on this somewhere, I did a search and found nill)

My energy is zapped after I orgasm. I’m not sure if this is 100% normal or if I lose more energy than I should. If I orgasm in the morning, I feel tired all day. If I orgasm before I need to read something, I am too tired to pay attention after a few lines. I just want to sleep or do nothing at all. Maybe watch a very short sit-com or something.

I’m not sure if this is mental or if my diet is bad or what. Do you guys think my diet is lacking? I think as a person I am fairly positive, so I don’t think its mental.. although I suppose my subconscious could link fatigue to after-orgasm, but it makes me tired ALL day! The only cure is at least a 10-20 minute nap at least.

I am not doing P.E. right now and I haven’t for about a year, so I don’t think it has anything to do with PE… although do you guys think actually doing some PE (just conditioning, not really extending) would solve some problems? If so, what PE exercises do you recommend for just conditioning?

I’m not a physician or anything but I know that being tired after orgasm is completely normal. I googled it real quick and have found a couple different explanations including endorphins which cause relaxation and the hormone oxytocin which causes sleepiness. I’m sure if you google’d it you’d find out a lot more.

One article mentioned making an effort to continue to breath in and out during orgasm to reduce some fatigue.

Is this just from gentle masturbation or do you mean you get tired after some vigorous sex? If it’s just masturbation then it could most definitely be a mental thing, even if you don’t normally suffer from things like that. It could be your diet, but I doubt it because if it was - then you would be tired all the time even without masturbation. I would recommend some acupuncture or something, that can really help with tiredness if it is not a medical condition. If you do decide to, then don’t be worried to mention the problem, they hear all kinds of stuff like that, they should be used to it.

I would also definitely recommend you taking some high strength korean gingseng, that could help with all parts of your tiredness. It will raise your energy levels during sex and/or masturbation and should allow you to keep awake longer ;)

Relaxation after orgasm also has to do with a drop in blood pressure. If you don’t drink enough water, dehydration might make it worse.

Try drinking more water everyday, it may help. Also, ginseng -as Jamessslash suggests- can be very beneficial (caffeine will be an acceptable substitute until you buy your ginseng). If you suspect that you diet gives you few vitamins and minerals, take a supplement.

And most important of all: Do you practice any sports? Doing some exercise a few times a week will give you a better physical condition. That helps a lot.

This is good, I’ll look into herbs like Ginseng. Any other good herbs?

Pu-erh tea is said to be quite energizing, you might want to give it a try. But to me, it tastes like hell.

Still, doing exercise (if you don’t already do it) is the first thing that should come to your mind if you want to be healthy.

Come to think of it, some people on this forum take an L-Arginine supplement. If you take it, it will *lower* your blood pressure, and in your particular case that’s bad. You’re not taking arginine, are you?

There are probably things you can do (and take) that will increase your energy (or libido), which should help. But what you are experiencing is perfectly normal. This is why some sexual traditions (e.g. Taoism) encourage men NOT to ejaculate every time they have sex (or masturbate). Techniques have been developed to enable men to control ejaculation (we discuss many of them here). The idea is to have lots of sex but only ejaculate every so often. This will vary from man to man. And, as a general rule, a man’s ejaculations should be less frequent as he gets older (but there can be just as much or even more sex!).

Try it, either when you are having sex or when you are masturbating. The effect is the complete opposite: you will have an abundance of energy! Indeed, I find that if I do this too often, the energy becomes too intense; I become very hyper and aggressive. (I suspect that this may temporarily raise testosterone.)

It’s a real discipline, as the urge to ejaculate is very strong. Resist it and see what happens.
