Folliculitis on scrotum and inner thighs.

Folliculitis on scrotum and inner thighs.

This is KIND OF men’s sexual health. I mean you can’t go around with gnarly looking pimple-type bumps on your junk now can you? I’d like to know if anyone has had this problem, and if so, what did you do to fix it? I’ve spent some time googling and I have some ideas but I’d like some more, hopefully from someone who has conquered it WITHOUT going to the doctor, because I won’t be doing that. Unless of course it persist for a long time. In the last six months I’ve gained about 25 pounds give or take depending on the day. I’ve gone from 155 to 180 and for the first time in my life my thighs rub together when I walk. I believe that this is the main cause of my folliculitis. It started with one or two bumps on my inner thigh, and it has spread to a lot of bumps on both inner thighs and my scrotum. They are mostly not painful but a few of them grew to a bigger size and greatly resemble a cyst, except not quite as big, painful, or pus-filled as the average cyst. For a while they were very itchy and I scratched them like crazy. Common sense should have told me not to but whatevers, in any case it has spread and I’m working on getting rid of it. So far all that I’ve done is be very on top of keeping the area clean and putting on baby powder afterwards. This seems to have some effect but still it remains after about two weeks or so.

So, thanks for any reply.

This might be a little late, but you could try using Head & Shoulders dandruff shampoo as a body wash for the affected areas. A lot of people have reported good results with that; it has something to do with the zinc it contains. Another option would be taking a zinc supplement pill every day. You can buy a cheap one at Wal-Mart — I think it’s about $4 for a one month supply. That might help get your condition under control. One word of caution: you really don’t want to use an oral zinc supplement long term due to the risk of zinc toxicity. That said, using one for a month or two could help with your breakouts. Good luck.
