Found out I've had borderline thyroid levels for the past 3 years

Wondering how this actually affects me. I don’t think I have any major symptoms of low thyroid levels.

I do take forever to get off. Fastest time I’ve orgasmed during sex has been 45 minutes. I’m 20 years old with a very high sex drive. I don’t think I have any other sexual problems, my girth has been a quarter of an inch lower sometimes when i check it, but not all the time.

Is there anything I can do about the low thyroid levels? Is it anything to worry about?

I kind of doubt that your thyroid levels are affecting your ejaculation timing.

What’s your doctor say about treating your current level?

There are a lot of folks living happily without a thyroid gland; many medications on the market now to supplement or replace thyroid chemical output.

Doctor didn’t say anything about treating it.

Did they check your actual thyroid levels or only TSH? Out of curiosity, what are the values?

I’ve heard some recommend kelp (yep, seaweed) for perking up the thyroid. There may be other supplements. May or may not be worth a try. If you are or become truly hypothyroid your doc may prescribe Synthroid, Cytomel or some combination.

Forget the iodine(Seaweed) too much iodine will give you a massive headache.

Don’t wait to treat low thyroid disease, it will only get lower, you will get weaker, and you will lose your appetite and gain weight(Adipose tissue).

I waited five years after I knew I was hypothyroid and laid on the couch for sixteen hours a day sleeping and getting fatter. Don’t get me wrong, I was walking 3-4 days a weak up and down steep hills. Also if you don’t treat hypothyroid disease now, diabetes is in your future along with erectile dysfunction. Hypothyroid disease will decrease you natural body strength up to 60%. It is a muscle wasting disease, and muscle lost is quickly replaces by fat. Go to the doctor get on a good t3/t4 thyroid hormone replacement. Or if you are like many of us w/o health insurance go to the health food store and buy thyroid supplements make sure they have actual thyroid substance in them, take as directed. Pert: to Avocet, Yes it can, and it can also make you impotant. You may experience double vision, Night blindness, Short term memory loss, Dry mouth, Dry skin, alopecia(all over body hair loss). Low body temp below 97 degrees.

hobby,

What are the recommended tests to be SURE you don’t have this? I had a T3/T4 test a few years ago, but I’ve heard that that doesn’t always do the trick in rooting out if there’s a problem. I have read that sometimes it can be masked under other things that make these tests uneffective, so the problem is still hiding in there, masking the test results.

I forget what it was, but there can be some other problem that skews the results and makes everything look okay when it really isn’t. Have you heard of anything like that?

My doctor, actually psychiatrist, wasn’t worried about it, I get blood tested every 6 months to check my kidneys, and the levels have been consistently borderline. He said the test isn’t consistently accurate, can fluctuate a lot during the day, so that means that it could actually be lower or higher. Its kind of strange its been so consistent though. I do have bad night vision and my short term memory is a lot worse than it used to be, I’m not sure if that is related

Blackfuryy,

Might I suggest that you take the results from your current doctor and go a medical doctor. If your results have been consistent, that is a good thing, but it wouldn’t hurt to get a more through checkup. A medical doctor would know of tests specifically designed for the thyroid, the TSH just gives an indication if there is something amiss.

Psychiatrists are medical doctors by definition; they take further training in psychiatry after getting their medical degree.

But an endochrinologist could probably tell him more than anybody else.

This pdf contains some good info.

A single test is only a snapshot. Levels vary. For example, my TSH was 1.something when tested about 5 years ago. Two years ago it was 4.493. Ouch. Recently it was 1.357.

>I get blood tested every 6 months to check my kidneys, and the levels have been consistently borderline.

What are the numbers? The “normal” range for TSH was recently revised. Now it’s .3 - 3.0.

That’s good stuff, hobby. Thanks!

I take thyroid meds. My Doctor did several test and used blood-test to certify what she thought . I experienced depression, bad skin , exhaustion and weight gain even though I was eating 2 times a day and had no desire to eat. I take synthroid and it was like somebody turned on my afterburners. What other symptoms do you have?

I used to have hyperthyroidism, then I had a radiation treatment done and now I have hypothyroidism. I’ll have to take medication for it for the rest of my life, but the medication does help quite a bit. Don’t take supplements and hope for the best; go to an endocrinologist and get real treatment.

I noticed that I was getting many symptoms linked to hypothyroidsim so I went to get tested using a device called Oligoscan which uses photospectroscopy to measure trace elements and heavy metal levels in the body.

As I had suspected, iodine levels were very low and 3 heavy metals were at high levels signifying an underactive thyroid gland. A bit of research showed that certain heavy metals can block iodine receptors and stop its absorption making the thyroid underactive.

The only cure is to increase iodine intake up to 150mcg per day. The easiest way is to eat 85 grams of dried cranberries (2 handfuls), small amounts of seaweed and hymalayan pink salt as these contain high amounts per gram. This optimum amount of iodine will chelate (remove) the heavy metals and allow the iodine to get to the thyroid gland.

I’ve been suffering from a reduced libido recently as one of the symptoms which has reduced my pumping PE effectiveness. I will keep you updated if things improve over the next months.
If any of you are experiencing decreased erection strength and duration, you should probably try the same thing because we intake mercury, cadmium and aluminium etc.constantly in this polluted environment.
