One more thing powpow although the doctor probably didn’t tell you this as to not alarm you, but hpv is linked to causing penile cancer in men like it is linked to cervical cancer in women. It is very rare though in men, I mean very very rare, but you might just want to keep a closer eye on any changes in your penis throughout your life. I don’t mean to scare you. I just want you to be well informed.

As all PE’ers, I do keep a close eye on all the changes in my penis! Just kidding, yeah I knew about the cancer thing, but since I can’t do nothing, worrying certainly ain’t going to be useful.
There is no protection other that the vaccine for HPV. The HPV virus is small enough to travel freely through a condom. So a condom is no protection or prevention of this virus.

Nah, Joe is not 100% right. The reason why wearing a condom does not protect you 100% from HPV is that the virus might be in the skin in the areas that are not covered by the condom (tights, scrotum, pelvis…). So unless you have a really long dick and always take care of not touching your partner with parts of your skin that are not covered by the preservative, condoms don’t make much of a difference.
I stand corrected. But keep in mind that the virus is transmitted through skin to skin contact. So if at any point a woman touches your penis she could be exposed to the virus. It does not have to be genital to genital contact. A blow job without a condom is an easy way of spreading it to her. Because of the way the hpv virus is spread the use of a condom cannot be depended on for protection from it or to stop the spread of it.

Once again Joe, I have to disagree with you. From the knowledge I have right now (I admit that I’m confused about some aspects and that I need to learn a lot more), g.w. cannot be spread to just any area of the skin. The warts can only appear in some rare cases in the mouth area. As for transmitting the virus (not necessarily the warts) I don’t know for sure but I’d be kind of tempted to think that we can apply the same logic. I’m going to seek clear answers to all these questions Monday morning.
Well I’m not saying that the warts themselves will be spread to that area, just that the virus itself can enter anothers system that way.
As for the warts showing up in that area I am not sure about that. I do know that if someone were to give oral sex to someone with genital herpes (while that person is capable of spreading the virus) there is a possibility that they could get sore on there mouth or in that area. Same goes for gonorrhea. If oral sex were given to some one who was infected, person could get an infection of gonorrhea in their throat. So this might hold true for genital warts but really I’m not sure and if I implyed this before, I’m sorry because that wasn’t what I meant.
I heard an gynecological oncologist give a talk on HPV and he said it is very prevalent in the environment. It can be passed by hand to genital contact and is one of the most easily spread viruses. Herpes usually needs contact with shedding virus but HPV is way more contagious.
The reality is that most people clear up an acute infection but still carry the virus. The small number of women who develp persistent infections with the strains that cause the cervical cancers are the ones who are in trouble.
