Infection?

Ok so here’s the story:

I have been with my girlfriend for over 2 years and in that time sex has been both good and bad. My girlfriend has a problem with yeast infections, well at least thats what her gynocologist told her. Every month or couple of months she tends to get them and so it affects me as well. After sex I can usually tell when she has an infection because sometimes it smells horrid. I also tend to get what looks like bruises on the head of my penis as well as a lot of irritation around the foreskin. We’re not really sure what is causing her to get these infections and we’re pretty sure it isn’t some type of STD since we both have been tested for STD’s. I would appreciate any help on this…the doctor’s don’t seem to be any help as they only say that it just happens. This is also hindering my PE goals as I can’t even touch my penis when it gets infected like this. If you need any more information just let me know. Oh and she has never had this happen to her until she met me.

Hmmm, I’m not real sure what to think about this not happening before you. Not to be real nosy, but are you here first? That may explain that part of it. But to be completely honest, yeast infections unfortunately do “just happen” for some women. We can get them more often when we are more sexually active. Unfortunately, most men do not realize that they too need to be treated for a yeast infection along with the woman. You just end up passing it back and forth. When I got them routinely with a previous partner, the doctor told us too, of course, to treat myself but that the guy should use the same product as the woman for just as long (rubbing it on his penis to clear it up) and of course refrain from sex during the “healing” time. There are a lot of fast working products out there now for women to use but men need to be able to apply it as well so I would recommend a 7 day treatment for both of you. It’s really worth it. If she is prone to getting them frequently after sex then I would also keep some on hand to use at the first sign of infection.

Another thing to think about, medications often cause yeast infections. If she is on anything regularly you may want to ask the doctor about this. The penicillin family is big on causing them.

We have a feeling that this all started when she went on birth control. I forgot to mention that didn’t I? So after 1.5 years of being on it we decided to get her off it to see if it helps. I had no clue that men could also get a yeast infection. I thought my symptoms were just a side effect of her having a yeast infection. I’ve been trying to break down all my ideas to see what is actually causing the problem. I guess the next step is to go on the same medication she is using. At one point I broke down and tried to put rubbing alcohol on my penis…usually this has no effect, but when we both were infected it burned like HELL. Lesson learned, don’t put rubbing alcohol on your penis PERIOD. I then tried, after a few more months and after a few more infections, using my athletes foot powder spray. It helped a lot and actually after a days use it looked and felt a lot better. I’d rather just have a one time cure for this though. So far I’ve got her off the pill to see if this helps. She hasn’t taken it for a couple months so far but she still just recently got infected again. I’m giving it a couple more months off to see if this helps. I’m also curious cause she hasn’t gotten pregnant either. My other theory which I haven’t told her about is that she might be allergic to me somehow. She’s been with other men and never had this problem before.

Hey friend I noticed your uncut because you mentioned foreskin. Always make sure before you get inside her that you wash your penis. Sometimes throughout the day you accumulate bacteria under the foreskin. This is why it is crucial to wash your penis before having sex… Try it out, hope this helps. By the way im uncut and eventhough I never let my penis get nasty I have had sex when I had been running around for a day without a shower and I gave my girlfriend a yeast infection.

I would suggest she cut back on sugar and simple carbs. You also don’t say if she has to take antibiotics on a regular basis. Those can cause yeast infections (nasty little creatures they are). Flower angel gave some excellent advice, when she treats for a yeast, you treat for a yeast. And mr6inch also gave good advice in make sure you are good and clean so that nothing goes from you to her, and then she gives it back.

I’m one of the lucky ones, I don’t get yeast infections very often, only if I have to take an antibiotic. And I avoid those like the plague. I only take them when absolutely necessary.

I heard that eating yogurt helps for balancing out Ph levels for a woman.

It does if you can do yogurt.

I am the man who can solve all your problems here, as my girlfriend “use” to have the same exact problem. The other guys were somewhat right when they mentioned “yogurt.” But its not in all yogurt, its certain types of yogurts that have live cultures in it named acidophilus. Acidophilus is great for the the vagina, as it is kills yeast, restores her natural flora, and it prevents yeast from growing and dominating her vaginal region. Search the net or better yet go to a local health store and buy some REFRIGERATED acidophilus (their in capsule form) with at least 5 billion cultures(DO NOT BUY IT WITHOUT IT BEING REFRIGERATED,ROOM TEMPERATURE KILLS THE CULTURES). Have your girl take one or two daily and in a few weeks I gurantee you will not see anymore infections. She should eat yogurt on a daily basis too. Everytime she uses, place the bottle back in the fridge. By the way, you can also insert those capsules into her vagina if she feels an infection coming on. Women usually know. They wil dissolve and restore her balance.

Wow, I don’t check this thread for a couple weeks and bam lots of help shows up :) . Well I followed flower_angels advice and we both used creams to help us for over a week. The cream didn’t really help me any but what did help was using my athletes foot spray directly on my penis. After a couple of days use I noticed it went away with a quickness…I still used the spray for a few days after though. Currently I am all healed up thanks to the spray. I’m hoping my gf is healed up as well from using her cream as well…it was just something over the counter.

I also try to keep myself extremely clean by washing a minimum of 3 times a day…my penis that is. The thing is that I never used to have this problem with any other woman. We’re also not on any kind of medication at all…maybe some aspirin if I have a headache I can’t bare but thats about it.

We used to eat a lot of yogurt because her gyno told her that it may help but it really didn’t help all that much. I eat yogurt quite often in any case just to fill up on calories…trying to put on a bit of muscle. As for it being acidophilus, I’m not sure of but I can check on that. You seem to know what your talking about and maybe have been through this so I’m going to follow your advice and try to find some of that acidophilus capsules. Needless to say it’s been awhile since we’ve “done” anything. I sometimes even get scared of having sex becuase I don’t want to get infected again. But I’m willing to try anything. Also can I take that pill as well? Last question, are you and your girl still having problems with recurring yeast infections?

I do not believe acidophilus will help you at all; however your girl will love the stuff once she consumes it over a regular basis. The acidophilus destroys the bad bacteria in the vagina. If your getting infected, its due to the insertion of your penis into a yeast filled vagina.Use a condom to prevent this infection. My girlfriend had recurring yeast infections and some other bacterial infection of the vagina. This occurred on a monthly basis. It became frustrating so we studied natural methods to fight against Candida. I am happy to report that in over two years, she hasn’t had one yeast or bacterial infection in MY VAGINA! She is so much wetter and our sex life has been revitalized. Its been great. Remember, Acidiophilus has to be refrigerated and should have 3-5 billion live cultures per capsule. Good luck!
