SSRI help

Yes, I would break the 50 mg pills in half. I think I took it everyday for about two weeks before I noticed a difference. After that I tried to ween myself down to two to three 25mg pills a week. My problem I thought was pretty bad, sometimes not being able to last a few minutes. It was so bad my wife told me to go to the Doctor. Anyway, for me , Zoloft is working wonders.

Did your doctor tell you to split the pill in half or did you do that on your own?

I just experimented on my on about the dosage. He did tell me it was okay to split in half or just take a 50 other day. Trust me I tried everyhting under the sun to cure myself to. To me Zoloft just works great. You will know when you get the right amount after a while of trying different doses. If you get to much you wont be able to cum. Good luck, I think you should at least give it a try.

What about kegels? Are you doing kegels??

And a question since I have read an interesting case of one guy.. do you or did you ever have a tendency to stretch/straighten out your legs when you are/were masturbating (could be deep into past)?

I have tried just about everything I could before I went in to see an urologist. As I have mentioned in other posts, my premature ejaculation came out of no where about a year ago.

I decided to cut the pill in half and take 25mg a day to see what would happen. It definitely helped some but I still have some unwanted anxiety.

Is it a bad idea to take these drugs while having some more then average stress? I ask that because right now I have more than normal stress in my life and I don’t know if the drugs are effecting it, or just these personal issues are alone. The personal issues are my GF, job, and the possibility of putting down a life long family pet.

Going on and off these drugs is, in my opinion, not wise.

I think a little zoloft would probaly take the edge off of your stress. I go on and off of my zoloft all the time without any ill effects. However, 25mg is a very low dose, I think a normal dose for treating depression is around 75mg.

SSRIs are about 20% effective, placebo ~15%, food for thought.

I remember a few years a go these drugs had to add a warning about increased risk of suicide, especially in teens/ young adults. Many people take them without these negative effects, but if you are having paranoia or anxiety, get off the shit NOW.

One of the side effects is increased suicide rates. Though not why you may think. Theory is: depressed suicidal people start to feel better and then are more energized to follow through.

The increased risk of suicide is linked to paroxetine, I think.

Similarly to other antidepressants, SSRIs can cause suicidality in children.[34] [35] [36] Analyses of the risks of SSRIs by governing bodies in the United States and United Kingdom have produced warnings about suicidality and aggression when the medications are used with children and adolescents.

A 2004 Food and Drug Administration (FDA) analysis of clinical trials on children with major depressive disorder found statistically significant increases of the risks of "possible suicidal ideation and suicidal behavior" by about 80%, and of agitation and hostility by about 130%.[34] An additional analysis by the FDA also indicated 1.5-fold increase of suicidality in the 18–24 age group.[35] [36] This resulted in a black box warning on SSRI and other antidepressant medications regarding the increased risk of suicidality in patients younger than 24.[37]

In 2004, the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) in the United Kingdom judged fluoxetine (Prozac) to be the only antidepressant that offered a favorable risk-benefit ratio in children with depression, though it was also associated with a slight increase in the risk of self-harm and suicidal ideation.[38] Only two SSRIs are licensed for use with children in the UK, sertraline (Zoloft) and fluvoxamine (Luvox), and only for the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder . Fluoxetine, despite having a favorable risk-benefit ratio for use with depression in adolescents and children, is not licensed for this use.[39]

Other studies on SSRIs and suicide among adolescents are equivocal; rates of suicide attempts in high-risk populations appear to be unaffected by SSRI prescriptions in adults.[40] There is also evidence that higher rates of SSRI prescriptions are associated with lower rates of suicide in children, though since the evidence is correlational , the true nature of the relationship is unclear.[41] The introduction of a warning regarding the association between SSRIs and suicide led to a decrease in prescriptions for the medications in 2003 and 2004, and these decreases in prescriptions were associated with an increase in actual number of teenage suicide.

There we go. I only remembered the link to Paroxetine - not surprising, since that’s what I take.
