vasectomy

12

I had a very modern technique, about a year ago. Very small incisions, and permanent titanium clamps on the ends of the vas deferens, to prevent reattachment.

I took some urologist provided medicine as directed. By the time I was balls out on the table, I was so relaxed and loopy, he could have removed my testicles and I wouldn’t have cared.

My sack was sore for about 4 or 5 days.

No pain upon ejaculation, and I really can’t tell a difference in ejaculatory volume.

No change in libido, if anything more horny.

No change in EQ, or stamina.

Only issue to date: no pressing on the perineum during ejaculation as practiced by tantric sex practitioners. I did it once, 2-3 months post-vasectomy, it made made me feel like my sac was exploding. I think the back-pressure was caused, perhaps inflammation was still there, I am still leery of trying it again.

Make damn sure that you REALLY WANT to be sterile before you go under the knife, because reversal is FAR more difficult and expensive than you can imagine, and it doesn’t always work. I suffered almost constant pain and sensitivity for the two years following the procedure, along with ED and a 75% reduction in Testosterone levels, despite assurances that problems were extremely rare.

My advice: Be very careful about cutting anything on your body, but especially your testicles, because no matter what you think today, you just might change your mind in the future.

I hastily got a vasectomy in 2007. I am the type that needs to feel like I can reproduce. For me, it was NOT a good thing. I had the reversal done at a cost of $5k and quite a bit of pain in 2008. But, I HAVE MY SWIMMERS BACK BABY!!

So, if I want another child, I have the bullets to produce one. If I don’t, then the pill, etc. seem to work fine.

Yep that’s the way I feel I want my swimmers, when I got divorced a while ago and I was serious with a younger girl who had no kids and wanted some, I decided I didn’t want anymore kids and moved on but it was nice to be able to make the decision not based on the fact that I had been fixed.

Yeah, I hear they’ve gotten the reversal procedure down pretty well. With the micro techniques available today, pretty soon they will probably be able to slap a tiny little valve on the vas deferens so the surgeon can just open or close sperm flow. Also with cryogenics I think you can freeze sperm for an indefinite period of time.

Let me make this clear, though. They do this under local anasthesia, and I am a large man .

They gave me all of the sedation medicine they were legally allowed to give, and I was pretty much wide awake as the “nut numbing” stuff was wearing off and my ballsacks were growing to the size of a large orange. I was in severe pain during the last 20 minutes of the procedure.

The point is, that, yes, the reversals are getting better and better, but it is no walk in the park. Some doc’s tell you to wait thirty days before ejaculating after surgery, while others say right away.

I had an old fart doc who said I had to go 30 days without. ( We only lasted 8 :) )

Ouch: All that under a local. I can see where the reversal would be more involved, a lot more tugging and probing. From what I understand when the vas is cut, it is very elastic and tends to snap back into the body cavity once the clamps are released. Probably just the digging and probing to find the two ends would cause a lot of trauma in that sensitive area. Seems like they would want you OUT for that, rather than wrestling around with a big guy on the table.

Dino: Looks like we were posting at the same time:

As far as the ethical issues involved in this procedure, as it regards a young man making the right decision, now thinking back, the doctors didn’t try to talk me out of it. I had one social worker come in and talk to me, because she felt I was too young to make this decision. Although I was young, I was pretty sure at the time I got the snip job that I would never want kids, of course, as someone already mentioned here, one can change their mind, but I never did.

I was fortunate, however, that when the, “leak” happened it was with a woman who was very financially independent, who wanted a child, but not necessarily a husband, so things worked out for the best for everyone concerned. I kind of like the idea of a Little Girtha running around, but like even better the fact that I won’t be expected to raise him. I still don’t regret getting the snip, but I’m more careful now about where I shoot my, sparse, yet tenacious little swimmers.

Acid J., I too went local except that it was with a “young-fart” doctor. He was great, got zero complications.

Big G., I was also young when I went through it; I have no regrets and no leaks. By the way, I had two sons
prior to the precedure.

This thread has got me thinking that maybe I should have it done again. My sperm count is very low, but there is still the possibility of an incident, since it only takes one little swimmer to do the job. The reason I’ve been hesitant to do it is because most of the women I know are my age and have either had tubal ligation, or hysterectomies. But I’ve been seeing one young lady who is anatomically intact, so there is a risk factor involved with her. Doc tells me the odds of my having another incident are astronomical, but possible, so I’m seriously considering it, just not looking forward to being cut on again.

With me there is a double whammy going on in the old ball sack, not just the oligospermia, but I also have some pretty serious varicoceles, which may have developed from scar tissue associated with the early, somewhat clumsy, procedure. This condition may have been worsened by Extreme PE, or even rough sex according to the good doctor. Might be a warning to some of you young guys still wanting to start a family to go easy with the clamps. Also, she says ball pumping is really hard on the balls, not to mention stupid. :whatever:

Big G., Two things: 1. I feel for you—-you’ve got some serious health challenges ahead of you…wish you the best.

2. don’t worry about the vasectomy, its the least of your worries. Do as I did: do your medical research on

vasectomies, consult with doctors, analyze what YOU want for YOUR body, and make a decision one way or another.

Thanks, BP:

But with my low sperm count and minimal encounters with fertile women, I think a box of extra wide condoms might me cheaper, and most certainly less painful.

As far as these varicoceles are concerned, I honest believe they are there due to the botched vasectomy years ago, because that was about the time I first noticed the mass in my scrotum. Doc has told me for years they can be removed with surgery. She actually does that procedure herself, but says the benefits rarely justify the post-op trauma, and that it is something most men just choose to live with. The lump is undetectable most of the time, but sometimes after rough ball-slapping sex or an abusive PE session a good sized cluster of tissue can be felt above the left testicle.

I have a different urologist now, also female, and she says the same, that unless it gets bigger or bothers me, probably best left alone. It’s kind of funny when she gets inquisitive feeling around for the mass during a testicle exam. I always pop wood, but she’s good friends with Doc, and has been warned about me.

Just to clarify: your doc said that varicoceles are best left alone?

I’m sure there are more severe cases where removing them might be the best option, but in my case, no. What my current urologist tells me is, unless they get bigger, change, become easily inflamed, or begin to bother you that, in my case, they are not anything that requires surgery. However, she says they should be watched.

Big G.,

1. Your “a box of extra wide condoms might be cheaper….” had me rolling. I could see it in my mind. lol

2. My opinion/question regarding your, “However, she says they should be watched.”: Isn’t that like asking a woman
with lumps in her breasts to “watch them”? Educate me, I might be missing something.
