What causes testicles to droop?

What causes testicles to droop?

I had an illness with a high fever for two weeks over the summer and my testicles became extremely droopy. When I sat on the toilet my testicles would hang into the water (which is not normal for me).

I was rememering that and wondered if anybody could explain why that might have happened. My scrotum was also a little reddish as I recall, but I’m not certain because I wasn’t well enough to pay much attention.

At the time I thought I had messed-up my testicles by using the penis extender with too much tension, but as I have had more experience with the extender I doubt that explanation. I think it was something about the illness.

That’s strange.

The dartos muscle provides some lift and it’s what gives the wrinkled look too. Some of the abdominal muscles also provide lift.

The former is non conscious control, the latter you can contact at will.

Can you give more detail about your illness at all?

I had murine typhus which is a bacterial infection from a flea bite. I was not able to sleep or eat for a couple of weeks and had a high fever. The bacteria apparently attacks a variety of organs like the brain, kidneys, liver, lungs, etc.

I don’t remember my testicles being swollen and heavy like might be expected if they were being attacked by the bacteria. Also, I don’t think swollen testicles are necessarily going to be droopy like that either.

Oh gosh. Nasty.

2 things. Typhus gets into the muscles. May have weakened them.

Other thing is that given how attacked your body has been, it may deem contraction of secondary muscles low on the agenda!

One other thought is that with a raised body temp, the will hang lower. If that is sustained, maybe the dartos muscle weaken through underuse.

These are just some thoughts.

Are you otherwise fully recovered?

Those sound like reasonable possibilities. It was a very weird illness, but I seem to be fully recovered. I was lucky that some people around me had the good sense to force me to go to the doctor. I hate going to the doctor.

Could be as simple as temperature. With the heat on and too many blankets, I’ll get extremely saggy. I’ll even get out of bed and go outside for a little bit. Tightens em right back up. That and Lifeway Organic Peach Kefir that has L-reuteri active cultures, will tighten them boys up. (I haven’t found any of the other Kefir to work). Kefir is like a yogurt type thing that you can drink. Drink like a shot or two per day, otherwise you’ll get a fat pad.

Interesting. I take l-reuteri capsules in hopes that it might help with the penis and testicle growth. Are you saying that too much l-reuteri will cause a fat pad? I was thinking about trying to take more capsules than recommended in hopes that it might do more. I don’t want a fat pad though.

It was probably the fever. Testicles like to maintain a certain temperature for optimal sperm production, which is cooler than body temp, (I think), if your body was really hot, they were probably trying to get as far away as they could.

Hmmm, that’s an interesting thought. I just did a search for "saggy testicles" and found several articles which support your idea. I guess evolution cares about the health of those sperm.
