Pornography is a tough subject for a lot of guys when it comes to trying to quit the habit/addiction from viewing it!! I had a long tough battle quitting porn addiction. I started looking at porn online at a young age, dial up internet, unsupervised teen after school. Daily use. I wasn’t really even aware that I was addicted until around 2016 when my EQ was just pathetic. I tried to quit cold turkey several times, but always ended in a binge much like any addiction. I had to set rules for myself, and have some grace and mercy with myself for not being perfectly self disciplined. My goal was no porn use, ever. I felt terribly guilty when I used porn after I started trying to stop using it, but when I was able to go about 2 weeks, my morning wood started to come back, and my EQ started to improve drastically. Cold turkey didn’t work for me. I started telling myself it was okay twice a week, and not back to back days. That was pretty successful but not perfect in decreasing my porn use, and over time it became much easier about half way through 2017. 2018 was an easy year, I got to the point where I didn’t need any porn or outside stimulation for masturbation, and I let myself use porn once a month with basically no consequences. This year I rarely even think about porn, and my sex life is great, and my erections are probably the best they have ever been in my life.
One thing that I think helped quite a bit was basically a digital detox. No Xbox, deleted all social media accounts minus this one, no cell phone games, lots of reading and listening to books on audible. Basically just adopted a healthier, more active lifestyle. I smoked a pack of cigarettes a day for 5 years, and quit in a similar fashion about 10 years ago. I’m sure that addiction fighting experience helped.
