Calculating Strain Rate

Calculating Strain Rate

Hi Everyone,

Can someone please explain to me how to calculate strain rate? I’ve read 5.5Squared posts and Kypras but I’m obviously missing something. Pre cold stretch measuring at the bottom of the vacuum cup is 6 inches and post cooldown stretch measures at 6.5 inches. How do I know what the strain rate is?

I would also like help with this. Am I measuring my pre every day or am I using 1 pre measurement per cycle.

Well, let’s start with the maths. Simply take the difference between pre and post exercise and divide with the pre measure. So in your case that means (6.5 - 6.0) / 6.0 = 8,3%. Which by the way is a lot. I normally land between 2-3%, doing manual stretching.

Then it could always be discussed what should be the pre and post measures. I think this depends on the routine you are into. Personally I try to catch a measure in the morning for BPFSL and then normally post measure is after a bunch of stretch sessions adding up to 60 mins. Important for me is to catch the measure before any girth exercises, since they tend to impact length in a negative way. As long as your are measuring in a consistent way you should be all fine.
