One of the things Thunder’s Place moderators try to do is to dispel myths or misunderstandings about various products, supplements, or methods sometimes recommended by members. Obviously we aren’t all experts in every field, but most of us have been around long enough to have an understanding of what works, what doesn’t and what might be misinterpreted.
DHT is most important to male sexual characteristics at two points in a man’s life. One is during fetal development and the other is during puberty. The quote from Wikipedia is about fetal development and would not apply to grown men. DHT is important for adults, but not so much as during the two periods in life mentioned.
Men who take finasteride or related drugs for male pattern baldness have reduced DHT levels yet, in spite of claims by a few, their masculinity is not altered. The drug literature on finasteride specifically states:
“PROSCAR has no effect on circulating levels of cortisol, estradiol, prolactin, thyroid-stimulating hormone, or thyroxine. No clinically meaningful effect was observed on the plasma lipid profile (i.e., total cholesterol, low density lipoproteins, high density lipoproteins and triglycerides) or bone mineral density… In healthy volunteers, treatment with PROSCAR did not alter the response of LH and FSH to gonadotropin-releasing hormone indicating that the hypothalamic-pituitary-testicular axis was not affected… Treatment with PROSCAR for 24 weeks to evaluate semen parameters in healthy male volunteers revealed no clinically meaningful effects on sperm concentration, mobility, morphology, or pH.”
So even if emu oil was a “DHT blocker” it wouldn’t affect a man’s sexual characteristics.
The second problem I see is that the only place emu oil is claimed to reduced DHT levels is on hair restoration web sites. A search of medical literature (PubMed) reveals NO studies done relating emu oil to DHT, male pattern baldness, male sexual characteristics or anything other than its ability to deeply penetrate the skin.
Regarding the original question: I don’t see how it would help PE exercises except as a lubricant like any other oil.
