I do heavy, or at least what I could consider heavy, hip thrusts to build my glutes and hip flexors regularly. I haven’t had any issues. I do mine with about a 70lb dumbell with 20reps for 3 or 4 sets. I don’t use puss pads for any lifts period. I rest the dumbell on my bladder for the hipthrusts. No main arteries run close to the skin except the ones to your neck, and even those would be considered “deep” if our necks weren’t so small. If you have sufficient pressure to cut off an artery during a lift you’d know because you’d go numb in the area.
