Hello all, I'm new here

Been hovering around this site for about a month trying to register. Finally have. I need some motivation. I find myself to not be too disciplined with anything, even when I can see the benefits. I was doing yoga for 3 weeks, feeling so much better in my spirit etc and then I just stopped. Working out and stuff like that goes well for a while with a steady decent routine and then bam, stopped dead. How can I start with the intention of not stopping? Thanks

Ric

Welcome to the forum! I think that being aware of this behavior is the first step in overcoming it. Would it help if you structured your time a little more rigorously? Just as you schedule when you go to work, or meetings, or school, try scheduling your PE time. It’ll probably take some time, but maybe if you set some realistic goals with a reward at the completion of that goal you might have some luck. (i.e do the newbie routine regularly for 4 weeks and treat yourself to some new clothes, or DVDs or something like that) It’s all about the self-discipline. Start a log here and let the other guys encourage you. Good luck

Thanks for the welcome and advice. I suck with schedules. Haha. As my work is fairly flexible and hap hazard some weeks I work other weeks I don’t. There isn’t too much of a structure. I do need to have a very disciplined spot in my schedule for this though because it is bugging me that I can’t motivate. :) I guess finally becoming a member on here might give me the incentive now that I have access to more of the forum. :)

I have done this before.

You will find that different tricks work for different things. For yoga and anything else that is done in a group, make the effort to form social connections. If someone is dependent on me for a ride to class, I will never flake out.

Running a Massive Co-Front.

It doesn’t matter. Start and stop. Many people do. You will make progress in the long run. Like running. You never lose your fitness completely. You might go into reverse for a bit if you take a break but when you start again you’ll make up those losses in no time.

Wise words guys. Making a lot of sense and encouraging me already. :)
