How long should a kegel be held

I wanted to know how long a kegel should be held for? I’ve been doing them for 5 seconds at a time. Is that long enough? Also should I stand up or sit down while I am doing them?

I think three seconds it’s a good time for a beginner. Standing or sitting makes no difference.

3 seconds is a good start.
