Is it at all practical to make a DIY ADS that pulls at about the same strength as hanging would and would produce similar gains that hanging does?

I have no ability to hang for gains but really want to. I can do the theraband ADS device that I could sneak off to adjust frequently. If I used the 15 pound theraband and crank it all the way taught, would that be similar to hanging with a 15 weight for the duration?

As I would attach it to my leg I imagine that this would simulate the swing you get from hanging. I could also readjust the angles as needed, perhaps doing 2 or 3 sessions perhaps at an hour each and increase times as I’m able.

Seems to me that this would work unless this has been tried before and I can’t seem to find the thread. If not, I’ll be glad to guinea pig it for everyone.

Thoughts?

As a man who is chronically impatient, I have decided to give it a go.

The idea that it may not have worked before is technically negated by the “different strokes for different folks” idealism that floats around here.

I’ll keep you guys updated if it works or even does not.

The idea is fine, in practice it’s the method of attachment that causes the problems.

Basically, it’s the Theraband and cotton ADS they use in the video tutorials page but with a heavier stretch band to really give it some pull.

I tried it last night and this morning and the only negative PI I got was a cool tingly glans by the end of my hour which went away fairly quickly. Good long hang afterward as well.

Well good luck and be very careful, maybe look into a vac attachment, with proper taping you can go fairly long times.

I’m still looking into vac attachments. Money is tight at this point so I’m shopping more than buying.

Also seen some cheap on ebay.

So it’s about 2 weeks into it and it seems to be working out just fine. I have been doing two sets a day with the weekends off.

The time in stretch is more judged by what I can handle vs the actual time frame which varies from 1.5 to 2.5 hours. I crank it super tight and go till I can’t take it. I’m sore And a tiny bit raw but it feels good.

It has reduced my jelqs to almost zero as I am constantly recovering from the stretch and don’t want to over work it. After a couple of months of this I will try to work some light jelqing back in.

I have noted a small gain today since my last measurement. I do not know if it’s from the new method or the tail end of the old method. I forgot to measure and mark a phase change when I switched.

Freaking love Newbie Gains, by the way.

I now have a new baseline and will let you guys know if it measures up. I also plan on getting a hanger scale so I can tell exactly how hard I’m yanking this thing.
