Is my testosterone my problem?

Is my testosterone my problem?

As I age, I find more changes occurring than I could have ever imagined. Some of the shingles are coming off of the roof, if you know what I am saying, but that is far from the only changes I have noticed. I always heard the stories as I grew up about old men, and the strange changes that occur as we age. I have found many of these changes that I heard of as a child, and others that I was obviously too young to hear or understand.

I found that my libido was lower than ever before; the spare tire around my mid-section was growing, my hair was thinning out on my head, and that hair was showing up in other places on my body. I have never been one to accept excuses for anything, so I began to look into some things I could do in order to at least keep my body healthy and mobile, even if I am unable to stop the effects of aging.

So I know that I need to make some changes to my diet, exercise more often than I currently do, and start to understand more about how my aging body works. So I headed over to the trusty old Google box and began to do my research. I eventually came across the fact that my testosterone isn’t where it used to be. I believe that making corrections in order to improve my testosterone levels will ultimately impact every other aspect of my body.

I found all sorts of information on Wikipedia at pages like 1-Testosterone - Wikipedia that covered a fair amount of information about what testosterone is. As I continued my research, I eventually discovered that scientists believe that men lose their libido as they grow older because of a drop in testosterone.

I found this program that seems to offer powerful tips, advice, and information about improving my testosterone levels. At spam link removed, I found a free download of the e-book How To Boost Testosterone Levels. The approach is all natural and offers an easy, to the point method for naturally raising my testosterone levels.

I am here looking for some tips and advice from all of you folks. Is it possible that testosterone can be a cause of poor sex life? If I improve my levels of testosterone, as well as my diet and exercise, will I be able to see a significant difference in my sex life, weight loss, and my energy levels? Do you think that increasing my levels of testosterone will make a difference? Would be better to take supplements of some type, or will it be enough to focus on my diet instead?

I think it is worth a blood test to find out if in fact your testosterone is low. I have a store front nearby that runs all sorts of lab tests, it is all they do. Perhaps you can find a similar lab facility in your area. If your level is in fact low, the best idea would be to then see a doctor who could prescribe a documented medication that could improve your levels.

Focusing on a diet that is good for testosterone is not a bad idea, because that diet is also a very good healthy diet, so there is an upside on many levels.

Buying a supplement that advertises itself as being a testosterone booster is probably a bad idea as most of those are just snake oil.

The primary goal of PE should be to make your penis as healthy as possible in both form and function. If you do that, increased size will follow.

Until around the age of 70+ the diet will heavily impact your life.. Your body is matter and it survives on what you feed it to and what it can do with whatever it is you give to it. Diet alone will improve your life all around if you start eating better since you will be providing your body with more and better quality matter for it to work.

You will not feel instantly better, and since you will gradually improve your health you won’t really feel the progression.. however, once you are in, if you leave it you will realise how much worse you were when not taking the proper cares. You just didn’t feel it before because you were used to it.

This only covers the factory side of your body, however… the other important one is using it, doing more excercise so you develop more endurance and better cardio condition as well. It is key to pick a relevant form of training in order to get the benefit you want.

Also, if you are a mind conscious dude, you might as well pay attention to the “spiritual” aspects of life and give meditation a try… it gives you great peace of mind!

boomer411, do you mind sharing your age and when you started to notice these things especially? I second the opinion that it’s probably best to get a bloodtest. I would say a fairly comprehensive set of test could be done for something like 150 “bucks”. In fact, it is possible to get the prescriptions from doctors online and just show up at blood test facility and then receive the results later in email. In other words, it may be easier than you think to getting the testing carried out.

Great read Gprent

Awesome post Gprent!

Serious starting point: Nov. 2, 2009/BPEL 5.75 x 4.75 inches.

Current BPEL 7 1/2 x 5.5 inches.

Goal: BPEL 8 x 6 inches. Hell, if I hit 8, I'm going for 9!

Very interesting post. I would say to get your levels tested. I tested mine and I’m the low end of average at best and sometimes even just below average. I know it correlates pretty well to my libido, but otherwise I don’t notice too much of a difference.

Start (Oct 2010) NBPEL: 5, BPEL: 5.875 inches, BASE GIRTH: 5.25 inches, MID GIRTH: 5

(November 2013) NBPEL: 5.875, BPEL: 6.625 inches, BASE GIRTH: 5.625 inches, MID GIRTH: 5

Goal NBPEL(7-7.5)xMEG(5.5-6) (journal)

Below average

I am 66 and below average but not enough to qualify for injections I do not want. I am trying out most of the things in Gprent’s excellent post. However there is an added extra complication in my case which probably applies in others. I am 66 and have family related cholesterol issues. I have been on statins for many years and suspected this was affecting my testosterone. After recent postsw by papple - Libido supplements long term question and marinera - Cheap Dostinex: Megadosis Of Vitamin B6 And E - personal experience I got thinking and did some googling. There is research which suggests for those with ED taking statins reduces Testosterone and it looks as if the one I take, zocor is the worst at it.

I am going to do battle with the Doc after my next test to see if I can change my statin to one which lass less impact on Test and see if I can also take Niacin at least in part to reduce the need for statins.

Papple also suggested aromatase inhibitors to boost Test. Will also talk to the doc about that.

I am also happy to report that since starting PE I am exercising more and reducing weight as gprent advises and it has reduced my cholersterol count.

FWIW, I’m taking Xymogen’s Testoplex right now. Xymogen (heavily) imply results within 4 weeks. The formula apparently cleaves off sex hormone bound testosterone and prevents conversion to estrogen as well as DHT. I’m at my second week and can honestly testify that my flaccid has the same floppy fullness as it does when I take a daily dose of Cialis during girth work periods.

I should also note that I’m losing abdominal fat (slowly) and doing air squats (a few every now and then) and a bit of high intensity interval training (HIIT in the literature) at the same time, so my results may be confounded by these.

But yeah, what Gprent said.

What are air squats?

Testosterone starts dropping quicker around the age of 30. If nothing else, get in to see a doc and get your levels tested. It’ll at least let you know where you are now and give you a baseline for the future. I have very thorough tests done regularly. Fortunately I have good insurance to cover everything, but if anything starts changing in my body, I have a nice long history of measurements to make the change noticeable. My guess is that your t is low though.

Very interesting post by gprent.

I am 77 yo. I have fought high cholesterol and high triglycerides ever since my first lipid profile over 35 years ago. In the fall of 2011 my cardiologist suggested that I go on Crestore. I even got the prescription filled. I took two tablets, and began searching the internet concerning side effects.

In the meantime I learned about a program which encouraged life style changes. I began an extensive exercise program as well as eating a greatly increased quantity of fresh fruits and vegetables. In a 32 day program, under doctor’s supervision I lost 23 pounds, lowered my triglycerides from 343 to 145. I also lowered my cholesterol from 285 to 152. My blood pressure went from upper 130s/upper 80s to somewhere (consistently) low 120s/60-65. I feel great. I continue to be active. I had mild ED. With the advent of PE in November 2012 I have noticed that I experience morning wood on nearly a regular basis. I am also able to achieve a reasonable erection. One that permits penetration without difficulty. After penetration and continued thrusting, thus increased level of excitation, my EQ level increases quite favorably.. I have been able to increase my edging time from 10 minutes to times where I am able to go for 40-45minutes.

My urologist will not order blood test levels for testosterone. He says that with my erection levels increased morning wood, and my continued high libido levels would indicate that blood tests for testosterone are unnecessary.

I might also add that I have experienced a small increase in length and girth as a result of PE. Another improvement I have noticed is that when I began I was barely capable of doing 10 Kegels. I am now able to do as many as 300 in a session. I feel certain that this has had an effect on my EQ level.

I might add that continuing on this program I have lost 30 pounds, kept my blood pressure numbers down and lowered my triglycerides into the low 130 range and my cholesterol in the upper 130 range. My cardiologist is very pleased. Also I am not on any medications to achieve any of these numbers. It has been accomplished solely by exercise and eating habits.

Notice I do not say diet as I do not count calories. I am able to eat as much food, volumewise, as I wish.

Very encouraging pots restored91 gives me hope for what is possible when in your age.Inspirational.
