Key Differences Between Edging and Masturbation
I want to be absolutely clear on the distinction between these two ideas because edging appears to be nearly universally regarded as positive for gains, but there are endless discussions about whether masturbation hinders gains or not— or in other words, masturbation is at best neutral for growth.
Every description I read about edging, however, seems to sound remarkably similar to masturbating. Some people even say they stay away from edging because it is so pleasurable that they end up simply masturbating. To my understanding, the key difference lies in the intention— edging focuses more on creating a sustained expansion after workout, and using movements (like ballooning) to support that, while masturbating is strictly for pleasure and release. I’ve read here that edging without release might be bad for the prostate though?
Am I missing something here?? I’d really like to start edging after workouts (and off days) to minimize turtling, but I find I do best masturbating a few times a week at most, and this sounds like a pretty similar thing especially if I end up releasing at the end.
