Laser Hair Removal

Doesn’t meant it works, just that it won’t hurt you.

You will need to look at studies of the actual “in home” models to know if they work at all. Simply looking at medical studies using comercial models will tell you nothing.

So, I’ve done the professional treatments and have the at-home device. I did a ton of research on all options so hopefully you can take something away from what I’ve learned from my experience. First, the at home devices, even though they are FDA approved are not the same as going professional. When you get it done professionally, not only is the laser much stronger, but it’s better “tuned” for your skin type and hair color. They actually have controls on the device to set for strength and depth and they have more than one type of laser to use depending on your specifics. Not only that, but ever time the laser goes, it also shoots a puff of some “cryo” (as they call it) that cools the skin at the same time. The area their laser covers is about the size of a dime and they can continually shoot with a reload time of less than a second. I’ve done all of my pelvis, shaft, balls and ass. It usually takes 6 treatments spaced 6 weeks apart until you are hair free, but that doesn’t mean you won’t notice a big difference after the first treatment. Your hair grows in waves. Not all of your hair grows at the same time. There’s pretty much three waves that take turns from what I’ve found out. After my first treatment, I felt like the hair was already 80% gone, then the next wave starting growing about a month later so for my second treatment, I was ready to go again. It takes 6 treatments or more because some hair is missed each time and you have to get it at the right time of growth.

So, now for your “tria” you’re looking at. This device is designed to make them money. It uses a rechargeable battery that is only good for so many zaps. Once you’ve used it up, the thing is trash. The other issue is that the point on it is so small that you can only get a couple hairs at once, if that. It also does have to recharge back up before your next shot, so you can’t just doing it over and over at a rapid pace. So when you’re treating yourself, you need to make sure you have a lot of time to spare to get it done. There’s no cryo with this, so it will hurt more than getting it done professionally, and if you happen to cover the same area more than once, you’re at risk of burning your skin. I had a friend do this and it was not a pretty sight. You’re also going to have to do your own treatments every 2 weeks and as previously mentioned, you’ll need to do dozens of them with this. They also only say you’ll get to around 80% removal. You can expect 95%+ removal with the professional ones. Yes, I have one to help with any missed hairs from the professional treatments. The money isn’t really an issue for me and I was interested in how they compare.

There is also the sensepil device, also fda approved. It doesn’t use a laser, but a specially designed “light”. It has the same affect as the Tria though. The total removal will be closer to 80% over many many treatments. It covers a much larger area, but you have to continuly replace the light cartridge (ever 750 shots I think). At least though it doesn’t have a finite amount of use. Once again, this hurts more than getting it done professionally.

Hopefully you’ve stuck with me this far because here’s the important part. The professional treatments are actually cheaper than the at home device now. Go to groupon. Com or livingsocial. Com (hopefully you live near a major metropolitan area) and you can easily find 6 treatments for $99. Not all places will do that area on men though and may charge a little more for that area so call them before ordering a package. In Houston there’s never less than a dozen offers for instance. My wife and I have had multiple areas done now and swear by it. I actually paid full price for professional treatments and even then I feel like I got my money’s worth (the upside was a lifetime guarantee).

My recommendation is definitely to let the professionals do it. I only have peach fuze left at this point and I love it.

I have been using a Silkn sensepil on my shaft, scrotum and ass for more than half a year.

The hair on my scrotum and ass is now 90% gone. Hair on the upper shaft is totally gone. But hair in the base seems to need more treatments. I have seen a 60% hair reduction in that area.

They don’t recommend using in the genital area for two reasons:The skin down there can be darker and way more sensitive. I.e. More painful and easier to scar.

I did have concerns about using it on my scrotum. But skin on the scrotum is very manipulative when it’s warm, and you can easily move the testicles around to avoid being shot by the IPL light.

How many light cartridges have you gone through and how many treatments? When my wife tried using that on her legs, a cartridge only lasted 2 treatments. At $35 each plus the initial cost of the unit, professional treatments looking might appealing.
