Lubrication with coconut oil

My balls tend to stick to the tube after half an hour to an hour, and then it gets painful. Most lubes don’t “wet” the plastic of the tube, and they dry out or are absorbed by the skin, leaving spots that don’t slide.

I’ve been sticking with water-base or organic oil lubes for easier cleanup, but I did experiment with vaseline, which surprisingly didn’t do any better than the water-base lubes.

Plain old glycerine lets everything slide indefinitely, but I can’t wipe it completely off my hands, and even a damp washcloth isn’t enough to get it off. Makes it hard to write notes or use the tablet after that.

Silicone lube never dries out, so it’s good for balls in tubes. No lube problems there - just cost.

The secret to cleaning silicone lube (and maybe glycerine?) is to lather your hands or other body parts with liquid soap while dry. Next, enter the already-running stream of warm or hot water and wash off.

Ordered coconut oil from Amazon Fresh while half-asleep last night. Woke to find a jar of coconut oil at my door—but it’s hard, not liquid. I know that it quickly liquifies with body heat, but it sounds like you buy liquid coconut oil?

I’ve used a lot of it and the brand I’ve used comes in a tub. I’m guessing the melting point is around 72°F, as basically it is liquid in the summer and solid in the winter. As you indicated it melts very quickly in your hand.

FYI I’ve gotten away from using it and have shifted to CBD lotion. I don’t get any of the vaso dialation benefits that some say CBD lotion provides, but it seems to last longer while pumping with heat.

I’m using “Astro-Glide water base silicone lubricant”. They make a bunch of “silicone” lubes now. Being water-based, it probably has little if any silicone in it. I noticed that when I bought it a couple of years ago, went online and looked around, and if they were still selling the original non-water-based formula, I didn’t find any. The old stuff would dissolve silicone toys and condoms.

My skin still sticks to the tube. It might not technically dry out, but when I get out of the tube there’s not enough on my skin to worry about; a pass with a paper towel and it’s close enough to dry.

Water-based will give you those problems. I buy Swiss Navy silicone-based lubricant. They also have water-based, so avoid that. Also, I’ve found that any anal silicone lubricant is too thick.

Don,

Find a container that you don’t mind sitting out. I have a container that was a fancy candle with a lid. I heat up my coconut oil in a microwave safe container for about a minute or a little more depending on quantity. I use approximately 4 tablespoons of liquid oil (I like mct) to 1/2 cup of coconut. At this time you can add a scent but it has to be oil. Careful with mint it tingles if too much is used. (Just a Few drops) After I add it I hit it with my coffee frother to ensure it is incorporated evenly. It takes several hours for it to come to room temperature them you will find out if you added to little or too much.

Coconut oil is also awesome because of its antimicrobial properties and it softens skin. And the significant other will enjoy the feel of it. Mine does! Game changer.

Okay, I dove down the internet rabbit hole.

The “Swiss Navy” lube that Don is using is nearly unique, it really *is* silicone lube. Though the company also markets water-based lubes in very similar packaging.

According to their web site, the ingredients are: Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E)

Cyclopentasiloxane contains silicone, and it’s in almost every cosmetic product. So does dimethicone, which isn’t as widely used, but it’s still very common. Vitamin E oil is common.

You can buy cyclopentasiloxane and dimethicone all over the internet; it turns out there’s a whole DIY cosmetics thing going on, and they’re basic building blocks for that.

It would be somewhat cheaper to buy the ingredients and mix your own, though you’d have to work out the proportions by trial and error. They’re about the same price, so there’s probably some reason they use both.

I picked up some ‘baby oil’ when I was at the store this morning.

Upside: works fairly well as a pumping lube, doesn’t dry out.

Downside: stinks too bad to try again.

The fine print on the bottle said “Mineral oil, 98%. Fragrance, 2%.”

The “Fragrance”, whatever it is, could be used as a riot dispersant, or perhaps an insecticide. Unfortunately the nearly-full bottle is going out in tomorrow’s trash; I can’t imagine any situation dire enough to justify uncapping the bottle again.

I’ll try some straight “mineral oil” next time. I wish I’d looked at the label before I bought the baby oil; I’ve had enough run-ins with “Fragrance” to have immediately put it back on the shelf instead of in the cart. That’s what I get for not paying attention. [sigh]

Fascinating. I’d love to whip up a big batch of lube and market it under the Thunder’sPlace house brand. Nice work there, detective!

I ordered a small bottle of the Swiss Navy stuff to try.

Meanwhile, next on my list was coconut oil. Since the weather cooled off it went from liquid to “solid” in the jar, but opening it up, it was just slushy; it dipped out and spread easily.

Lubrication: excellent. Maybe not *quite* as good as baby oil/mineral oil, but close.

Smell: none, that I can tell

Cleanup: wipes off with paper towels. A *slight* residue, but acceptable. This is a factor for me because I use a pen and a small notepad to log PE, and I have difficulty writing if the pen gets slimy.

Absorption: Maybe 4 hours before the skin isn’t noticeably slick.

Tube: spreads on the plastic, doesn’t bead up.

Price: a big jar of it was about $3 at the grocery store.

If the coconut oil gets too stiff as the weather cools, I’ll try mixing it with something else, hopefully not to the detriment of its lubricating quality.

When the Swiss Navy stuff gets in I’ll do a comparison test.

Coconut Oil: a Review

My take on this stuff:

* Fascinating to witness it go from solid to liquid in your hand in seconds.

* Nice scent. Real coconut smell, not a fake suntan lotion coconut smell.

* For self-love sessions, it starts slippery but develops a drag pretty soon. Prefer oil-based masturbation cream or silicone lube for this.

* Nice, supple feeling on my skin. I might even use it for other body parts.

* Great for moisturizing my cock for manual stretching.

* And…after pulling on the meat, you can use it to cook Pad Thai!

Huh, strange. I got Amazon Brand - Happy Belly Organic Virgin Coconut Oil, 15 Fl Oz. It’s 100% coconut oil. Product description states “With a neutral taste and aroma…” but it definitely has a pleasant coconut smell.
