Penis Width vs Penis Girth

Ok so I was looking up condom sizes online, and was surprised to see that the average width of a condom was 2 inches.

I am at 5.6 inches girth, which is above average, but a circle of 5.6 inches has a diameter of 1.78 inches, lower than the average condom width.

This confuses me. How can I be above average girth and yet still smaller than the average condom width?

Am I wrong in thinking that penis width is the same as penis diameter? It should be the same as a condom is a perfect circle so if anything the diameter of hte condom should be less than the penis width. I am very confused.

That 2” width measurement must be with the condom laid flat, its circumference collapsed. Double the condom’s “width” and you’ll have its circumference. In other words, most condoms are about a 4” girth; plenty snug for the average-girth cock.

Hmm ok that would make more sense, but it does seem like they list it as a diameter…

Even the tighter fitting ones list their ‘diameter’ as 49mm. I’ll try have a search around for the listed average circumference.

Most popular condoms in my country are Durex and most of them have 20.5 cm (8.07”) length and 6.3 cm (2.48”) width which makes their circumference 12.6 cm (4.96”). That is 0.1 cm (0.04”) more than my starting girth. I was always afraid regular condoms won’t fit me and will slip so I was considering buying either Sensation (with small spikes) or Select (flavored) because those two were smaller, 17.8 cm (7.01”) length and 5.2 cm (2.05”) width which makes their circumference 10.4 cm (4.09”). However, it turned out that regular sized condoms fit me perfectly and never slipped. :) Funny thing is, back then I was mostly concerned about condom length instead of width/circumference. :) Those were the days when I knew jack squat about size or proper measuring.

According to the LifeStyles penis size survey, a good 15% of men are at 4.5” and still quite of few men are right around 4”. If that’s true then normal condoms must feel pretty loose and even be too small for a very large number of men. My girth is 5” (or just a tad under) at the thickest part. So I’m supposedly average in girth. Condoms don’t slip off during sex but I always feel like if my penis were any thinner, the condom would be too small. This makes me feel small in girth, not average, because condoms are supposed to be more or less one size fits all.
