Question for tissue engineeringhuman biology people: Hydrogel and stem cell or ecm?
Hi There,
I’m new and have an idea that seems like it would work, from a tissue engineering/injection perspective. I would need some expert feedback:
What would happen if I one of the commercial “bio-resorbable” hydrogels available commercially today? To seed the hydrogel matrix, I would inject my own stem cells - many companies are now culturing stem cells from patients for cosmetic use, but studies show that this type of thing can be used to generate tissue, including corpus cavernosum tissue. Studies also show that extracellular matrix might be a good way to start seeding tissue instead of stem cells. Seeding this in the body seems much more straight forward than doing it in vitro (and then trying to implant), from a recovery and from a growth perspective. I am looking for feedback on viability, including possible negative consequences of: differentiation, granulomas, and other unforeseen stuff.
Thanks!
