Re: clamping - white spots
Hi guys
I know I’m in the newbie category and technically shouldn’t be clamping, but despite my status I have been PEing for about 2 years now and have quite a bit of experience (just not enough posts to upgrade to the members forum) .
I have been clamping for a few months now and after a few mistrials have managed to find that in the absence of a decent cable clamp, a guitar capo (one with the strap, not the bulky metal kind!) has been working quite well for me. However, as I have been progressing to a tighter grip I have found that it tightens so well as to produce a dark colour very quickly, along with some white blotches on the tip of the head. I’m guessing this is bad, but can anyone tell me whether this is just an inherent problem with the device and I should stop using it, or just that I am slightly overdoing it?
Also then is there different grades/types of cable clamp, the ones I have a quite light plastic and slip easily and need constant pressure to produce a tight grip. Is this standard or should I get my money back?
Cheers
