Shaving the man area it hurts after. help

Hey,

I have a problem with shaving. I am 20 and I just started to be sexually active.

I shaved two times before and it hurts and stings right after for a couple of days whenever my legs or something touches the area.

How do I shave properly. Seriously this is really hard for me I want to keep that area clear.

Advise please.

Clean your razor blade off with alcohol, this may be due to bacteria on the blades. When you shave down there put hair conditioner on it, leave this for a few minutes. This will soften the pubic hair and make it easier to shave, and cut down on razor burn. After shaving apply hair conditioner again on your pubic area leave it in for a few minutes let it dry, this conditions your skin a bit. Then when it is dry take a shower wash it off with soap and water.

Speak softly carry a big dick, I'm mean stick!

What Pole’ said.

Also, try to stand the hairs on end and cut them off square- if you shave with the grain you can create a sharp point on the hair and will be more likely to irritate or in grow.

I might add, do not use the same blade that you use on your face on your privates. Use separate blades! :)

Personally, I can’t shave all my pubes with a blade. When I do so, it looks nice for a couple hours, the days after I’m covered with shaving bumps, it itches like hell for a few days.

Here’s what I do:
-I shave my balls with a manual razor
-I shave the first inch of my penis with a manual razor but I go with the hairs, not against the hairs (does that make sense?)
-I use a clipper for my pubis. I find it is good to have a little hair there. When you have no hair, friction can get pretty bad during sex.

Also remember to use aftershave or something similar to keep it clean and disinfected

A good face wash works great.

It’s a little hilarious to recommend aftershave to someone who is complaining about painful irritation. Sensitive skin and alcohol based products don’t always go well together.

The thing is, people are different, so who knows?

There is a product called Tend Skin , which is designed to be applied after shaving to alleviate shaving bumps and bikini area difficulties. It works well, though it can be intense when first using it.

I also think it’s a good idea to soften the hair in the shaving region. Rather than hair conditioner, which coats the follicle and actually makes it thicker and more difficult to shave, I would recommend ~ Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash, a white cream wash which feels similar to conditioner, but has distinct differences. The reasons being: it’s a very mild cream wash, unscented, cheap, readily available at most drug stores and supermarkets, and a little goes a long way for this purpose. Its active ingredient is salicylic acid (also found in TendSkin). This mild acid wash softens hair by weakening the follicle, while preventing breakouts on the skin from inflammation.

Salicylic acid is anti-inflammatory and is found in many skin products; it’s also the active ingredient in aspirin; the pain relieving properties of which have to do with mitigating inflammation.

TendSkin would be a better choice as an aftershave than any regular aftershave, in my opinion, because it was designed for the purpose you are using for. It does sting, but afterward the pain, and itching goes away.

At this point my shaving habits are such that I can get away with just using the Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash, as my skin is now accustomed to my shaving habits.

So some your problem may just be getting used it.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

On top of what everyone else has said, use baby powder when your done.

Why are you shaving down below? Do you want to look like a pre-pubecent boy? What the hell is going on with men these days?

it looks better and girls like it more?

I can assure you that I, for one, look nothing like a pre-pubescent boy. Rarely do they have a 5.5” X 5” flaccid hang. ;)

I also don’t shave the whole region, just the hair around the base and any that go up the shaft. There are a few reasons for this. Aesthetics aside, an abundance of hair makes it more difficult to get a good seal when pumping.

Aesthetically I find I like the look of it better if the hair is absent around the base and the shaft is clear. As far as balls and the rest of the groin area, I use a beard/moustache trimmer just to tame the forest and keep it from being overly bushy.

Some people like to be completely clean shaven; in my case, I just like shorter hair down there. Not least because one of my girlfriends said shorter hair made giving blow jobs easier for her.

I live to serve. :leftie:

It’s all personal preference.

I’d like to second Westla’s above reference to the article about the Seiko Cleancut shaver from beavershaver.com ($60 plus shipping). I’ve used this for a couple years now, with no bumps or ingrown hairs. I dust heavily with cornstarch first, which provides a kind of lubricant. It is possible to get a little irritation sometimes, but that’s usually when I try to use it without the cornstarch.

This is a microscreen shaver, but it has only the screen, no clipper on the side. So it won’t cut long hair at all. If the end of the hair doesn’t go through the screen, nothing happens.

Since the shaver only works on stubble, you would need to use it every two or three days at a minimum, otherwise the hair gets to be too long, and you would have to go back to clippers of some kind to get it back to stubble.

This is not as fast as a blade because you have to go over each area several times. You can hear each time it cuts a hair, so you just keep going until you stop hearing that crackling noise. It takes me about 10-15 minutes to get really smooth. That’s balls and dick base and a bit up the shaft.

And since it only cuts stubble, you don’t actually have to watch where you’re going. So you can use it while you’re watching TV, without worrying about ending up with a Mohawk. :-)

I also use it every other day on the back of my neck. Again, you don’t have to see where you’re going.

I guess the downside is that even if the area in question is smooth when you finish, it isn’t really cut quite as close as a blade would do, so you probably get stubble back a bit sooner.

Clabber Girl is my favorite cornstarch. :-)

How can you chaps let a proper razorblade near your cocks? That would scare the bejeezus out of me! I cut myself even with an electric right on the dorsal vein once, and now I can’t face shaving my dick.
