"Shock Me" - No, not the KISS song, but another Self-Shockwave Diary

Early 60s, very healthy and active, yet I’ve come upon a sudden deterioration of EQ that’s presented itself over the last year. I’ve almost exhausted all the DIY cures and now forcing myself to consider more extensive medical intervention. My last DIY gasp, it seems, is DIY shockwave, a subject on which this forum has provided a lot of valuable information.

I spanked a lot to porn years ago, but swore it off and haven’t used it in years and years. While I think it negatively impacted my EQ for awhile, I feel quitting porn helped me bounce back for several years. Overall, I’ve never had much an issue with ED at all til I reached my 60s.

I’ve tried pretty much all the easy stuff, from every supplement under the sun, to red light exposure, to pumping, to stretching and various exercises, PT141, clomid, to about everything that doesn’t require injections or medical procedures. The only thing that’s worked is C/V, but even their efficacy is waning. Clomid seemed to help also, however the vision sides were enough for me not to want to risk going blind (coincidentally another KISS song)

So despite the hit-or-miss testimonials here and elsewhere concerning shockwave treatment, and despite the fact that it seems that I’m trying this after the fad has passed, I bought a shockwave unit off Ebay, one of those cheap ones, <$200. I’m under no delusion that this will be 100% successful; but I’ve read enough testimonials online that I felt that gambling $200 for a ~25% chance of improving my ED would be worth it . And as others have noted, it’s useful for other aches and pains.

I’ve fumbled through the first 3 sessions, using 8Hz and 90mj. Thanks to the groundbreaking work by Dicklimpen and several others here. Trying ~3000 hits to start. 300x3 on each side of the penis, 300 on top, then 500 x 2 on each crus. I arrived at this protocol through intensive reading on many blogs from home users. Most accounts from home users, as well as the machine instructions, recommend something similar to 2 weeks x 3 treatments, then a week or so off, then another 2 weeks x 3 treatments. So that is where I will start.

Although my unit came equipped with 2 ED heads to use, I elected to use the 15mm concave head, because it seems most of the accounts I read online used this head. My unit came with pretty decent instructions, unlike what was reported back a few years ago when many guys were trying this route.

My net-net from the first week’s sessions is. Nothing really. I do understand most guys, if they see an improvement, it isn’t for weeks/months after the 2nd set of treatments. So I don’t expect any improvement in EQ for awhile. But my dick didn’t feel any different at all after the treatments. It didn’t hurt, wasn’t numb, no difference in hang, no skin appearance changes, etc. Etc. Etc. Whatever, but it’s got me to start thinking maybe I’m not being rigorous enough.

But I’ll stick with the same protocol, at least through the first couple weeks’ treatments. If, after all that, I still don’t feel any difference at all down there, I may up the frequency and/or energy. Plenty of guys out there have taken a lot of liberty at adjusting these levels up, with various effects. But I want to be careful at the outset.

I have 2 more weeks of the additional self treatment, after which I will report back. If something notable happens, good or bad, I will report back before that. Any inputs, suggestions, fellow testimonials are welcome.

Completed the first 3 week regimen. 3x per week, for 3 weeks. Gonna take a week or so rest. Thus far, the net net is. Not much. I don’t really feel much of anything different down there. I can’t help to think that’s a bad sign, but don’t want to jump to an early conclusion since much of what I read state that the effects won’t be apparent until weeks after the procedures. But it seems that I read a couple testimonials where the user did see some slight benefits early. Who knows.

Since I really didn’t feel much different, no slight pain, nor difference in appearance after each session, I couldn’t help but wonder if the 90mj and 8Hz was sufficient. Seems like most users reported some slight soreness afterwards that went away the next day, and I was thinking if I never have any post-session soreness at all, maybe it’s a no pain, no pain scenario and I should up the intensity. So on the very last session I turned up the intensity to 110mj from 90, and had my last session. Yes it was more intense, which I expected. And the rest of the day it felt like I had masturbated with a sledgehammer. So I achieved somewhat the post -session pain others reported. I feared maybe I had overdone it but was relieved when the pain was gone the next day. So it has me thinking that maybe I should stick with the 110mj setting for the next set of sessions.

But if circulation down there is not the problem, this won’t do that much for me and I’ll have to bark up another tree. Even though I have a healthy heart and circulatory system, lower than average BP and heart rate, and do a fair amount of cardio, I feel I have lower than average peripheral circulation because my hands and feet stay cold in the winter. And peripheral circulation does decline as you get older.
So without getting any inputs from a Doc, I theorize circulation is part of my EQ problems. Could be nothing but internet self-diagnosing hogwash but guess the shockwave will ultimately tell me that. This is about the last thing I can do before seeking medical help.

Giving the shockwave machine a try first still sounds like a reasonable plan.

Just going to the doctor doesn’t necessarily mean you’re going to get detailed testing.

The venous flow test is uncommon, and insurance companies generally won’t pay unless the urologist performs other required tests first, assuming you meet the company’s requirements for specific symptoms.

Good luck

Sorry I’ve been remiss at reporting my progress, or lack thereof. At this point, I’ve self administered 3 treatment blocks total. Each block consisting of 3x sessions/week for 3 weeks, or 9 sessions total. Then 2-3 weeks rest. The first 2 treatment blocks, I stuck with the original protocol - 110Mj, 8Hz, roughly 300 shocks each side of penis 3 areas, 300 shocks 3 areas on top, then 500 each side of crura. Roughly 3500-3700 hits per shock session. First 2 treatment blocks I used the head that seems to be standard here, 15mm concave with the blue cover.

I decided to change things up for the 3rd block as it didn’t seem to be making much diffrence in my erection quality. Maybe being impatient, but my dick wasn’t really sore after each treatment, which some have reported, so thought maybe I wasn’t being aggressive enough. So after reading about the EDX protocols, I noticed the EDX unit uses a 10mm flat head, with no cover. Which corresponds exactly to one of the black heads on my cheap SW unit. This head, along with the other black head, the one that looks like a giant screwdriver, seem to have been recent additions to the unit. THe Chinese Mfgr probably saw what head the EDX used, and likely just copied it and added to their unit. So I went with the black 10mm head at my original protocol, 110Mj, 8Hz. Yowza! Much more aggressive. So I dialed it down to 90mj, still at 8Hz, everything else the same. This head felt a lot more aggressive and left my dick more sore and slightly red afterwards, which the other head did not. So for the 3rd treatment block I went with the 10mm round head, 90Mj 8Hz, ~3700 heads at the same treatment intervals.

I’m 2 weeks into my rest period after the 3rd treatment block. So far, I hate to say, the results are "meh." Maybe a little improvement in EQ, but not convinced that’s not natural variability. So not sure if I should rest further or launch into another treatment block in a week or two. But in the end, I’m beginning to feel my EQ problems aren’t circulation related, and likely T related (or possible venous leak) and thus the SW may not help much.

I’ve had one for several years now and my enthusiasm waxes and wanes. I do it for maintenance, which means whenever I remember I have it I do a 1x week session. I’ve also tried multiple settings. At one time I felt a low MJ like 60 was doing great. I haven’t been scientific about it so I have no data to analyze. Oh well. Right now, based on a recent study, I settled on 120mj/3 MHZ/2500 shocks. I feel I wake up with great wood for a few days afterwards but that also correlates with having V and C in my system. I do notice that after the weekend and early week i have decent EQ and it wanes towards the end of the week while I on purpose try to washout out any PDE inhibitor. So tough to say and difficult to do with a very demanding work life.
Anyway, you may know this already, but alot of the literature indicates shockwave is more helpful in getting non responders to viagra and cialis to respond. So it’s possible not much more is to be expected here.
If you have money (and I’ve been thinking about how to do this) get a real shockwave treatment from the focused shockwave offerings to see if there’s a difference. Many professionals seem to think radial shockwave does not go deep enough or intense enough to do the job and the most of the studies out there are based on focused shockwaves.
Try my settings and maybe cut back to 2 or 1 x per week to give your penis time to recover. Try a lower mhz, i feel i get better results with the lower frequency.
Try a cock ring or constriction to see if maybe venous leakage is contributing, i’m not sure if that will prove it exactly, but i’m enjoying some additional girth since I started clamping for 10 minutes a day.
I sympathize with you because I tried all those things to in the quest to have super erections. I’ve been experimenting, jeez, maybe 30 years using herbs, supplements, techniques etc. When I was younger everything worked from ginseng to citrulline. I felt I knew stuff but I think it was just because I was young. I remember a friend telling me he took a ginsana softgel and immediately got a hard on an hour later. To be young! (we were about 22 at the time).
I follow rena malik, who has alot to say about this stuff, she has good info and feels testosterone accounts for only a small number of ED.
I’m taking supplements to improve my blood vessels based on Nitric Oxide and a seaweed for the glycocalyx. Nothing great to report yet.
I wish you luck on this. Btw, I tried PRP and Stem Cell. I had boners all night after the stem cell and then it went back to normal very quickly, I wouldn’t recommend it although the concept is great. I also tried PRP to improve my hair and it did zero. I’m considering mabye my provider sucked so just take it with a grain of salt.

Well, dang. That’s disappointing.

You have the equipment, you might as well give it a break and then restart the cycle since it’s only costing you a small amount of time.
